Republican Senator Johnny Isakson has come out and called Sara Palin's remarks about death panels as part of Obama's health care plan "nuts". The comment by Palin is, in itself, more than nuts.

It is good to see a Republican Senator talking honestly here. Euthanasia? Not at all. Looney Tunes? Absolutely, and it shows just how far down the "Avenue of the Crazies" Palin has strayed. Palin could end up being a one woman wrecking crew - Of the Republican party, but I think the GOP will trim her from the tree rather quickly, so that doesn't happen.

Did Palin ever make any euthanasia claims? or, is that something that's been added to the context?

Yes she did, and a Republican Senator called her nuts (interview with Johnny Isakson).

Here is Palin, in her own words on facebook. THIS is what the Republican Senator was referring to when he called Palin nuts.

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

These are her exact words? Nowhere in there does she say, "euthanasia".

In this statement, she's absolutely correct,

there will be a nine person panel, with the surgeon general as the chair, that will dole out healthcare as they see fit. Have you read that part of the bill?

Death panel huh? You're really missing the point of universal health care.
But such facts and truths don't really matter to the fringe that "wants their country back" and hates anything presented by, dare I say it, a liberal. Oooohh no that evil word liberal

By all means point me to the part of the bill that advocates a death panel.

I was referring to the nine person panel that deals out the health care.

Have you read the part where the government can force you to let them moniter how you're raising your kid?

You're putting up multiple strawmen here. I want to see from you specifically about the death panel and how anyone is advocating for anything that is even remotely on the same grounds as a death panel as the ones you have alluded to in other posts of Stalin in Ukraine.

I enver said anything about a death panel. Feel free to quote me. Thank you. Care to address my actual comments, or are you going to keep addressing comments I didn't make? Just let me know.

If you are not addressing the death panel comment which this thread is very specific in addressing then you're simply posting off topic - to which there's no point in addressing you any further.
If you are claiming that you never said anything about a death panel than I must ask as to what of any significance is your post on a 9 panel judge with the surgeon general as the chairman? Seems you're suggesting that that very 9 panel judge is the death panel, or is it? would help if you could clear it up and in your own words establish that you are not eluding to any such insane suggestion.

Stop playing games. What she describes is EUTHANASIA.

What she describes is NOT in the bill.

She is correct about nothing. Again with the really hyperbolic talking points meant to appeal to uneducated people. She continues to reveal her lack of intellect and critical thinking ability by appealing to the lowest common denominator.

For ****'s sake get better informed and stop looking like a total ass.

Palin 'death panel' claim sets Truth-O-Meter ablaze

Palin's claim sounds a little like another statement making the rounds, which says that health care reform would mandate counseling for seniors on how to end their lives sooner. We rated this claim Pants on Fire! The truth is that the health bill allows Medicare, for the first time, to pay for doctors' appointments for patients to discuss living wills and other end-of-life issues with their physicians. These types of appointments are completely optional, and AARP supports the measure.

Palin also may have also jumped to conclusions about the Obama administration's efforts to promote comparative effectiveness research. Such research has nothing to do with evaluating patients for "worthiness." Rather, comparative effectiveness research finds out which treatments work better than others.

The health reform bill being considered in the House of Representatives says that a Comparative Effectiveness Research Center shall "conduct, support, and synthesize research" that looks at "outcomes, effectiveness, and appropriateness of health care services and procedures in order to identify the manner in which diseases, disorders, and other health conditions can most effectively and appropriately be prevented, diagnosed, treated, and managed clinically."

When Obama said that a quarter of medicare spending takes place in the last year of somebody's life was that just a casual remark?

When he talks about "end of life life counseling" what does he have in mind?

Sara Palin doesn't like this kind of talk. Big deal! It should be up to the patient and the doctor.

If a liberal said something about "death panels" in Iraq nobody in the media would bat an eye.

I just read this.

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, Obama's top health care advisor, advocates denying care to elderly and disabled
