Democrat screams at constituent for asking tough question on health care

I saw this yesterday. I liked the part where he said, "call mr office and set up a meeting". Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

Yeah, that congressperson overreacted. I agree. I don't blame him for being on the defensive given what has happened in the last few weeks though. If I was a congressperson who was attempting to do what is right for the country in the face of extremists, I may be a bit touchy too, especially at an event that had nothing to do with health care. That said, he could have just answered the guy's questions and it would have not devolved into his stupid rant. Oh well, there are going to be people on both sides that pull this crap. It's inevitable.

I hope his constituents call him out on it and he makes a public apology and meets with that doctor. I think it would only be the right thing to do.

Hot Air Blog Archive Video: Democrat screams at constituent for asking tough question on health care

The embedded video is the local news stations story on it...

You get Rep Scott making an utter ass of himself.

Several points.

1) He did not scream.

2) The meeting this took place at was not on the topic of health care.

3) The questioner misrepresented Scott's position.

4) Scott seemed to try and be respectful, answering the question in some detail, and only got angry when the guy continued to press the issue.

Funny how you failed to mention how this meeting was as a direct result of a group doing just that, and how he followed up that comment with the dates of 2 public meetings he was having on the topic of healthcare.

Right, because only "extremists" are against this bill.

:rofl

Health Policy

They do seem to be the ones showing up at events and being disruptive. Oh, and one poll does not tell the truth. Mid June, over 70% of Americans were for reform and come July that number is still upwards of 60% with some of those who disagree doing so due to the watered down bill. When you get some facts that actually are real, let us know.

They seem to leave out all facts. Seems to be the mighty right wing :spin: machine.

Perhaps you should read more than just the top line of any given link. You're apparently quite unfamiliar with PollingReport.com.

When you finally comprehend that there's a difference between favoring "health care reform" in general and favoring THIS version of it, YOU "let us know." I, for one, will not hold my breath waiting.

Oh yeah, meetings with a date but no place.....that's real helpful and constituent service-like.

I would hope that the person could use the internets to find out, or the local paper, or the local TV, or use the phone book to find out his office number and inquire there...

This congressman (using the term loosely) obviously has no respect for the people in the room. If he thought this doctor was a partisan plant and not a constituent his first reply should have been "Could you identify yourself sir." Instead he disrespectfully and snidely tried to skirt the issue like a 3 year old. I believe this statemans :( and the others at these disorderly town halls get distraught when asked questions they don't know the answer to or just don't want to answer. All of the disorderlyness comes about when they refuse to answer or lie.

Okay, picture this. Your boss has given you a task and has found out through the grapevine that you may be accomplishing that task in a way that may financially jeopardize the entire enterprise. You are having a coordination meeting and the boss shows up and asks pointed questions about the project to which you respond like this congressman did. How long are you going to be employed?

The congressman said call my office. The doctor says he did. The congressmans office statement said health care forums were scheduled. The doctor said that the congressmans office said there were to be none. As far as I can tell this doctor is well meaning and honest and just wanted to make his thoughts known, as an expert in the field, to his congressman. He was insulted and met with derision. It is unconsionable. This is not a little sin by a congressman but a hugh sin. He is refusing to represent his constituents and should be fired, impeached or voted out with a lack of confidence vote immediately just as Governor Sanford should be if his constituents think he no longer has their interest at heart.

I think this lady hit it right on the button with all this town hall crap.
