Judge seeks more details on Trump's clemency for Roger Stone


U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered that the parties provide her by Tuesday with a copy of the executive order that commuted Stone’s sentence. She also asked for clarity about the scope of the clemency, including whether it covers just his prison sentence or also the two-year period of supervised release that was part of his sentence.


There has been sloppy legal work out of this Administration before.

Trump has an absolute right to pardon someone or give clemency. It is his call alone and cannot be interfered with.

The judge should and needs to stay the hell out of things that are above her pay grade.

This is Trump's 10th pardon/clemency.

Obama gave out over 1,700 pardon/clemency and I don't ever recall a judge requesting information on any of his.

Same with the other 43 presidents that preceded Trump and Obama.

Any of those 1700 acts of clemency have anywhere near the relationship of the grantor to the grantee?

I wouldn't be critical of the judge just yet. It sounds like she was requesting a valid clarification, as well a documentation for her records. Since the DOJ was able to provide it 'within hours', it doesn't sound like it was a big issue.

This is an administrative issue for completing the paperwork. I wouldn't be surprised if this happened under Obama as well, and just didn't make headlines.

You ought to familiarize yourself. She's well within the scope of judicial inquiry as to determine how this commutation was structured.

First off, all of Obama's pardons (of which there were only 212 of that 1927 total of a mix of pardons, reprieves, commutations and remissions) were done through the standard process with the office of the U.S. Pardon Attorney and none, 0, nada, zilch were given to any Obama crony or political associate.

what the judge wants is irrelevant. Trump has the ability to commute his sentence.
regardless of what she thinks.

given better information posted it looks like this is simple paper work that is required for her records.

Is She an activist purely because she's asking for info from Trump?
Maybe being a Judge She has way more information at hand about this case and sees a justifiable legal reason to ask for the information.

Sure... I'll take your word that you researched all 1900+ and found that Obama or his friends did not know 1 single person that he either pardoned or commuted their sentence.

Go back to Clinton then and start with his former White Water partner Susan McDougal.

And don't forget that Clinton pardoned his own brother -

So please don't try and tell me that Trump commuting the sentence of his friend of 40 years is a first in US History.

Roger Stone would never have been charged or convicted of anything if the Obama White House did not illegally bug the Trump campaign, trying to make it look legal with their dirty FISA warrants.
