(CNN)On Monday, President Donald Trump went after attempts to strip the names of racists from buildings. On Tuesday, it was a federal housing rule meant to combat racial segregation.
By Wednesday, Trump was calling the words "black lives matter" a "symbol of hate" -- a description he's refused to use for Confederate emblems -- that would spoil the "luxury avenue" he once called home.
Navigating a precarious political moment, Trump continues seizing upon widening cultural divisions in a way he believes will appeal to voters concerned about safety and order -- despite polls showing wide disapproval of how he's handling race relations.

Trump calls Black Lives Matter a 'symbol of hate' as he digs in on race - CNNPolitics

Irony redefined.

Hes just appealing to his real base.

You would think the least racist person anywhere in the world would be a little more diplomatic in their views.

I agree with his premise that members of Black Lives Matter promoting violence against the police is wrong. I do not like to hear about police officers responding to calls and being ambushed and killed, which is what those messages can lead to. I strongly disagree with how President Trump responds to that issue. Calling the painted words a "symbol of hate" is as disturbing as people within the movement promoting violence against the police. All this does is make our country more divisive than it already has become at a time when unity is needed to confront and address two crises.

If this poll is any indicator, it seems one area both Democrat and Republicans agree on is their dissatisfaction in the direction this country is heading.

BLM does not hate the orange race. If trump wants to play whitey, he needs to wash his face.

I'm not aware of any police officers being killed or ambushed by BLM. Citation?

I am however aware of police officers being killed by the Boogaloo Boys who intended to blame it on BLM.

I never claimed those who ambushed police officers were BLM members. I have no idea who they have been in the past, but I will see if I can pull the one up that I am thinking of that occurred in my area. I was speaking more generally that I am against messages that have a potential to incite violent crimes that may cause deaths.

This is not the one I remember, but it is similar minus the outcome being in reverse. 5-6 years ago, I was living in northern Colorado, and a police officer was killed by an ambusher in Fort Collins. It was his first day on the job, and I remember it because it was a tragic story.

In fact BLM is promoting hatred, and death, to the nation's police and their campaign has been hugely successful. More police than ever are being murdered and cities have cut their funding or hope to eliminate them altogether.

Have you ever chanted, 'What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want them? Now!'

Or do you think that that's too 'hateful'?

This is the side the Leftists have taken and, what's more, they seem to think all Black people feel this way also.

It is a symbol of hate. Do you support their violence, burning down of black neighborhoods, looting them, killing innocent black men and chanting "what do we want dead cops when do we want them right now. Fry em like bacon"
To be clear this doesnt look like hate to you...correct?
Seems it doesn't, and there are many more like that. They're so full of hate they can no longer think rationally.

Actually, under 18 U.S. Code § 2331(5) BLM and ANTIFA are both domestic terrorist organizations. The last time I checked we are still at war with terrorism.

They are literally burning down black neighborhoods and looting them. How can anyone without brain damage say with a straight face that BLM is not a hate group? Speak up...show yourselves.

True dat. Simply put, Trump is very openly pandering to white supremacists and he wears it on his sleeve. There is no doubt anymore, no arguing it away or gaslighting. He's said too much recently to mean anything else. And the ethno-terrorists who want a 'race war' have heard his call and are acting on it.

BLM is a movement, and the ideals it stands for should be something all Americans support. BLM is not really a group even though it has a group of people who are part of the movement. I have no idea if anyone who is actually part of the movement is committing the crimes that we are seeing, or if there is a faction of extremists who claim to support the movement for their own gains. I also feel like Black Lives Matter members providing a lack of a response to concerns similar to your own hurts the movement because it further alienates people who already oppose the movement.

So you either support the killing of police or you're a 'White Supremacist'? Seems at one time there were other alternatives.

Sorry but I dont support chanting for dead cops and frying them like bacon. People that support them are no better than NAZIs

BLM- the organization proper- is militant and it is marxist. They are very, very dangerous.
Trump is right to call them out, as well as Antifa, the KKK, white supremacists and ALL hate groups.
He has called them ALL out, and he is RIGHT.

BLM is as it's core, an extremist group.

I do not support inciting violence against law enforcement either. I still support the underlying reason for Black Lives Matter.

So you either support the killing of police or you're a 'White Supremacist'? Seems at one time there were other alternatives.

I fall into the "other alternatives" category. I believe in what Black Lives Matter is trying to accomplish. I do not agree with the methods some people are taking while claiming they want to accomplish those goals.

This is the tactic of all extremist groups. You either capitulate or you are the enemy. Their false dichotomy is BLM, or you're a racist.
