How many conservative Republicans are willing to challenge President Trump's unwillingness to confront Russia's former spy master?

The Lincoln Project released its latest ad on Tuesday, featuring a former Navy SEAL demanding answers from President Trump on what he knows about Russia allegedly offering and paying bounties to Taliban-linked militants to kill U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Dan Barkhuff is an emergency room doctor and founder of Veterans for Responsible Leadership. In the ad, titled "Betrayed," Barkhuff declares that "any commander-in-chief with a spine" who learned about such a plot "would be stomping the living s--t out of some Russians right now — diplomatically, economically, or if necessary, with the sort of asymmetric warfare they're using to send our kids home in body bags."

Trump reportedly first found out about the bounties in 2019, yet no action has been taken, leading Barkhuff to wonder why Trump hasn't taken a public stand against Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Mr. Trump, you're either a coward who can't stand up to an ex-KGB goon or you're complicit," he said. "Which is it?"

It is the most damning evidence so far that Trump is entirely unfit to lead this nation, and as the ad suggested Trump is either a coward or complicit.

Cue the right wing defense for President OrangeTan in 5... 4.... 3...

Is it right to make such criticism of a man who wanted to fight in Vietnam but could not because of bone spurs? I mean fair is fair.

I find it interesting that the Lincoln Project selected that name as it's rather reminiscent of the Lincoln Battalion of the Spanish Civil war...Communists using the name of someone totally NOT Communist as a way to look less offensive.

These are Republicans honoring their heritage. Not communists.

The Lincoln Project is founded by Republicans. Every one of them. Why do you not pretend to be anti-communist? The reason should be because communism is the antithesis of democracy and capitalism. The Lincoln Project was founded to dump Trump because Trump is the major internal threat to American democracy. Trump's best bud is Putin, who is on record as being against democracy and hates America for having taken down Soviet communism and is the major exigent threat to the security of the US. Putin's reason for interfering in the US election to favor Trump was to weaken our democracy. In all logic, the LP is against communism and you should be in favor of them and against Trump for favoring the likes of Putin. But maybe you can explain your own logic better.

They're never-trumper Republicans and conservatives. These aren't people that anywhere in the ballpark of being to the left of me.

Commies managed to do a pretty good job of infiltrating the Democrat party, why can't the same be true of the GOP?

See, this is the problem with party politics as opposed to ideological politics. Party politics is all about party power and ideology, the core principles of WHY we have a political system, is often forgotten.

Instead of speculation, present evidence. This is site is for debate.

Thank you for your attempt to deflect the subject to The Lincoln Project and not the subject of this thread, the Russians paying the Taliban to kill American soldiers, while the White House knew this for a year and Trump either knew about it and did nothing, or was so uninterested in doing his job that he didn't bother to read intelligence briefs.

Either way, Trump is unfit. He is either a traitor, who sold out to the Russians or, he's doesn't read morning briefs of vital information.

Everyone involved in the Lincoln Project is identifiable. You seem to be calling them communists, personally.

And under every bed and behind every closet door. Soon enough, LutherF is gonna be checking his house before going to sleep one night and find Kim and Donny embracing behind the root-cellar door. He'll never be the same.

Or the information isn't worth a damn. As I have said before, there is ZERO upside for the Russian government to do something like that. The story has all the hallmarks of a plant and it would be FAR from the first time that the press and the Democrats went whole hog based on a story that didn't pan out.

For the Democrats AND THE LINCOLN PROJECT the goal is to create a political narrative and the veracity of the claims isn't the least bit important as long as the story gets lots of air time.

If the information is false, then why didn't Trump just state that? Why did he say he was never told about it? And why hasn't he fired the people who never told him?

Most likely he knew, he just did a couple bumps and spaced it off...

There's a difference between "false" and "not worth a damn".

I understand that in the world of the liberal Utopian the mere presence of something such as a dossier concocted for purely political purposes and utterly unverified can be used as grounds for a counterintelligence investigation lasting THREE YEARS or that an accusation by a "whistleblower" that is proved to be completely exaggerated can and should be used for impeachment but that's not the way things are SUPPOSED to work.

Try this on for size, a neighbor comes up to you one day and says, "I have been told by an anonymous but reliable source that your wife is giving blowies in the ally for $5". Do you try to verify that information or do you simply file for divorce because, after all, the source is "reliable"?

Again, Trump could have simply stated that: "The intelligence is not confirmed. If it is confirmed, this is what may happen." He's done it before.

"Nobody told me" about bounties placed on American soldiers makes it appear that the intelligence is accurate, and it makes him look inept and makes his administration look like it is outclassed in every respect by the Putin regime.

I don't want an administration that is easily outsmarted by a foreign adversary.

I've known Jennifer Horn for over 10 years. I'm personal friends with her. Do share your evidence that she is a communist so I can send it to her.

It's funny how dyed in the wool "conservatives" that espouse calls for limited government, personal responsibility and government accountability run screaming as if their hair was on fire to the other side when confronted with the possibility that those things might actually come about.
