BREAKING Trump authorises arrest of anyone vandalising statues, threatens prison term of up to 10 y

Is there any way that our president can authorize the arrest of people who run corrupt charities?

Maybe the leader of our country should authorize the arrest of people who don't pay subcontractors the money they owe them.

There is no end in sight. Will the rioters take it to the rural South? All those Antebellum homes etc? Stone Mountain and Mount Rushmore next? IDK....

No it isn’t.

It’s called a stupid political gimmick aimed at morons.

Vandalism is a crime anywhere. Trump has no specific authority here. Claiming that he is “ordering” people arrested for vandalism only plays with half wits and the folks who really think that Tru,p is a king.

again folks we can see that leftist want to argue instead of just agreeing that it was a good idea.
there is nothing to argue here folks.

everyone should be on board with people that are destroying people's property should be arrested.
This was a good move by the president.
and all these leftist can do is howl about it.

People who actually bought and sold four-year-old little girls, who have statues and the United States, are definitely in jeopardy.

I think you mixed the Epstein thread with this one?

Really? Here is the text of law...

‘Sec. 1369. Destruction of veterans’ memorials
‘(a) Whoever, in a circumstance described in subsection (b), willfully injures or destroys, or attempts to injure or destroy, any structure, plaque, statue, or other monument on public property commemorating the service of any person or persons in the armed forces of the United States shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both.

‘(b) A circumstance described in this subsection is that--

‘(1) in committing the offense described in subsection (a), the defendant travels or causes another to travel in interstate or foreign commerce, or uses the mail or an instrumentality of interstate or foreign commerce; or

‘(2) the structure, plaque, statue, or other monument described in subsection (a) is located on property owned by, or under the jurisdiction of, the Federal Government.’.

See any problem with your theory?

you are not allowed to vandalize or destroy government property or public property it is illegal.
no one said anything about veterans memorials.

The property is owned by the federal government or state government.

Wow. I think you brought up something that many of us have missed.

The human traffickers in our country's past aren't too different from Epstein.

Thanks for that.

You do know that vandalism is s crime right? You do realize that it is also illegal to destroy or deface state and federal property which these statues are right?
I guess not.

Trouble with your reading comprehension?

Oh, btw, defacing or destroying a confederate statue would not be covered under this statute.

There are already laws against vandalism, trump has no real say in the matter, nor can he impose sentences, that is in the hands of the Court's which he has no control over. Just so ya know, it is just a PR statement and nothing more.

Obummer would be giving orders to replace the statues with ones of himself.

YOu realize that vandalism is a crime right? your strawman is blowing away.
I never said anything about that statue.

It is illegal and a crime to destroy or deface federal property or even state property.
Your only response to this is.

Yes it is a crime and yes they should be arrested.

anything else is making excuses for their behavior which is what i expect you will do next.

The federal government can't enforce state laws, only federal laws. Did you see the bolded portion? Which confederate statue would be covered by this law?

It's a STUPID idea that was tweeted for the IGNORANT... The federal government has had this power since the law was passed in 2003...

You know, it would be nice if these self-righteous vandals would focus a little more on the real slavery problems of today. Human trafficking is a scourge on humanity and rampant in many parts of the world including in the US. But instead, these sniveling whiners are defacing statues representing people from eons ago instead of doing something productive in the here and now.

Each year, millions of men, women and children are trafficked worldwide. Human trafficking is a multi-billion dollar industry and enslaves about 25 million people every year, according to nonprofit organization Polaris.

Despite that fact, there are many myths and misconceptions around human trafficking.

One major misconception is that the crime doesn’t happen in the United States and that it doesn’t pose a risk to U.S. businesses. A 2018 Polaris study found that more than 81 percent of human trafficking cases in the U.S. involved a victim at a hotel. In addition, a study by the International Organization for Migration found that 80 percent of victims who were trafficked internationally crossed through an official border point, meaning the crime is happening at airports and seaports. A 2014 Urban Institute report found that 71 percent of labor trafficking victims arrived in the U.S. via an airport before they were trafficked.

This is another very good reason to limit immigration. If there's a limited to no market, that effectively ends imported slavery. But the left should be very concerned about these imported slaves, and they're not. They haven't addressed this plight at all as far as I can tell. Thanks!!

If you have nothing to add to the topic, keep your fingers off the keyboard, thanks.

Please point out what trump and the GOP have done to address the issue over the last 3.5 Years they have been in power?

You were responding to my statement that this statute, the one Trump specifically mentioned, which is the basis of this thread.

Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump

I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent.....

It is illegal and a crime to destroy or deface federal property or even state property.

What other federal laws would apply? Where can they be enforced?

a poor crowd turnout for Donald Trump (a massively insecure 74yo male) followed by Donald Trump trying to seem important.

nothing surprising here.
