Police groups break with Biden - POLITICO

Joe Biden has long prided himself on being a union-friendly Democrat with a good relationship with rank-and-file cops.
But Biden’s call for more national policing reforms and oversight in the wake of the death of George Floyd — and the perception that he hasn’t shown enough solidarity with law enforcement amid the ensuing nationwide protests and unrest — have created a fissure with law enforcement groups, leaving many who once supported him frustrated by what they regard as political posturing by their one-time ally.

“Clearly, he’s made a lot of changes the way candidates do during the primary process, but he kept moving left and fell off the deep end,” said Bill Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, the umbrella organization for Police Benevolent Association chapters.



“For Joe Biden, police are shaking their heads because he used to be a stand-up guy who backed law enforcement,” Johnson said. “But it seems in his old age, for whatever reason, he’s writing a sad final chapter when it comes to supporting law enforcement.”

The resignation/death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg close in to the election is probably the only thing that can save Joe at this point (though I doubt the union alone will have much to do with his flailing campaign).
 
Law enforcement is just one area that needs major overhaul.

Biden is simply playing politics. Leftist standards flutter whichever way the wind blows.
Biden is right on one thing. There needs to be an overhaul of how police deal with the public.

The job of a policeman is to protect and serve. Their job is to uphold the constitution.
Had the cops in the Floyd scenario done that then this whole situation could have been avoided.

The guy was obviously had some issues their job should have been taking him to a hospital or clinic.
not throwing him to the ground.

Sure the guy tried to pass off a fake 20 bill. that did not require the response that the police gave.

Trump will get a huge majority of the votes from the police, regardless of them being heavily unionized, which usually mans automatic Democrat votes.

Trump will use the example of our awful mayor here in Los Angeles, who is on a par with DeBlasio. He is CUTTING The police budget by 150 MILLION dollars and will use that money for the inner cities and "studies". This is about 20% of their budget. So, instead of there being more police to quell the violence in the inner cities, there will be less. The ones remaining will not get raises. They will not attract the best and the finest. The larger point though, is the attitude of the leftists. They ALWAYS excuse criminality by saying it is someone else's fault. People throwing bricks, looting, burning and killing? That is because a bad cop killed a black man and NOT because of thuggery. We are seeing in our inner cities just what the problem is and mayors like Garcetti and wannabe presidents like Biden will make it far worse.

I think that Joe "where am I?" Biden (and his handlers) have decided that inspiring (exciting or increasing?) black voter turnout is more important (will be numerically beneficial?) than any possible reduction in the police (public union?) vote.

At any rate, law enforcement does not inherently deserve support. Too many bad things have gone on with too few "good apples" intervening to stop the seemingly many bad ones. They have to earn support now.




American worship of authority really is quite bizarre, or at least it would seem bizarre if one actually believed Americans in general meant what they said about "freedoms." Methinks they don't mean it, which is in turn why they make so very much noise about it.

I wonder if the people constantly pushing the Biden/dementia line grasp that they’re lowering the bar so low for him that any time he speaks normally (which is actually 99% of the time) he ends up coming across like Cicero.

Uh, oh, Biden is showing he doesn't blindly support a group. He is all for the rank and file cop, but not the ones who use a badge as a shield to violate the law and civil rights. The Union bosses are highly political, like most Unions and are almost required to rabidly 'support' their dues paying members or be voted out. If that requires them to overlook the bad apples and demand elected political officials 110% support their Union and members... :roll:

It is most interesting how some Unions are vilified and should be disbanded by the right wing folks but other Unions are to believed 110%... :peace

Imagine. A Presidential candidate saying something should be done about a crisis that's tearing at the country. Why, if the President could do anything about it, Trump would have long time ago, right? Back when the protesting was still peaceful and individual, if there was anything a President could do Trump would have done it then. Anything besides call the protesters sons of bitches and call for them to be fired, that is. I mean, who does Biden think the President is, right?

Same with Covid. There's just nothing the President can do about either crisis America is dealing with. What a coincidence, huh? Two crises at the same time and the most powerful man in the world is helpless to affect either one.
Just who does Biden think he is anyway. He just doesn't understand the concept of 'authority without responsibility'. Nobody who doesn't get behind that idea just isn't qualified to be President.

They mean it. They're just fuzzy about what it is. They think they're free if they can carry a gun anywhere they want.

doesn't negate what i said about police reforming their procedures and how to handle and deescalate the situation.
most is because 99% of our police force is uneducated on the constitution and the limits to their power.

if more police were educated on how the constitution works then well.
hell most police don't even know their own state regulations.

knowing these things will help out 99% of these situations.
