I Cannot Remain Silent Our fellow citizens are not the enemy, and must never become so.

The problem is police brutality. The claims of racism are BS. The police kill more whites than blacks. Blacks killed by the police are more likely to be killed by black police officers. Has nothing to do with racism.

Must be why all those white and brown people are protesting along with their black brothers and sisters. The boot falls on some but it can fall on all, time to Change That. Gonna happen, one way or the other .

What "racial equality" are you seeking?

I personally have white privilege so no worries here. I do have a few black friends, men and women and the list is too long so let's just say treated the same way in life I am. If you think there is no difference then you are not part of the solution... :peace

A new poll by Morning Consult found that large majorities of American voters, including a majority of Democrat supporters, back use of the National Guard to address the riots and protests tearing apart cities around the nation.
SILENT MAJORITY: Poll Shows American Voters Support Use of Military, National Guard in Riots - American Priority

That is a STATE organization. Not the RA (stands for regular army we used to say real army ;) )

A vastly different group of citizen soldiers who live and work in the state they patrol. I agree the Guard is the best back-up for law enforcement when confronted by riots and arsonists. But neither the Guard nor the police should be used to scatter peaceful demonstrators just because a bully wants to have a photo-op holding 'A' Bible...

You have yet to debunk any of these sources. Stop whatabouting and gaslighting

More of a dispute as to what is "tear gas" which I always associate with CS "GAS" as opposed to pepper balls or pepper spray.

And the regular army is the next best option if a governor were to refuse to utilize a desperately needed guard.

Nah, that's because of this nationwide media campaign to convince people that if a white cop kills a black person it is only and always because of racism, even though there isn't any evidence to suggest it is.

Admiral Mullen rips Trump a new one

Esper no doubt is as he stated Battle ready and willing to jump - Now how high he and the JCS jump, well who the **** knows

Mike Mullen: I Cannot Remain Silent - The Atlantic

Pentagon defends defense secretary'''s call to '''dominate the battle space''' in response to civil unrest - ABC News

Too little way too late, I'm afraid. The ideology that elected Trump has been growing for roughly 20 years, if not longer. Mullen says at the top of the article that he's been reluctant to say anything until now. Well...he should have been saying this three or four years ago, if not even before that.

It's too bad that Mullen didn't feel it was necessary to share, that the protestors were not being peaceful, nor did he feel it was necessary to share. That they were given ample warning before government forces were moved in to disperse them.

Whatever Trump's goal in conducting his visit, he laid bare his disdain for the rights of peaceful protest in this country, gave succor to the leaders of other countries who take comfort in our domestic strife, and risked further politicizing the men and women of our armed forces.
This statement right here, is an easily identifiable lie and it sickens me that Mullen had to do as such. It makes me feel that his statement is now nothing more than a political hit piece against the president.

Admiral Mullen ...
The Admiral is clearly an idiot.
When your fellow citizens are attacking your livelihood, of course they are the enemy.
If those citizens were destroying his livelihood, he would be singing a different tune.

That is part of the oath taken by enlisted. You will note that the oath taken by military officers is different. There is a distinct reason for that.

I ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God. (Title 5 U.S. Code 3331, an individual, except the President, elected or appointed to an office of honor or profit in the civil service or uniformed services)

Desperately needed???? Someone needs some depends...

Other than DC, where tRump is trying to live down his fleeing to the bunker, there isn't any major clashes between protesters- and in DC they were lawful and peaceful protests.... :doh

Was there any large scale rioting yesterday??? Arson, looting, murders??? Seems only Brooklyn cops charged the PEACEFUL protesters after curfew, more rational departments allowed the protesters to continue their marches past curfew and the crowd soon after dispersed.

There is no desperate need, no rational reason to send in the regular army.... :peace

The oath officers take, yes. Though I have it on good authority officers do not take their oath in bolded font. ;)

The minute a 'fellow citizen' starts burning down and looting the property of other citizens, they are, in deed, the enemy of the rest of America and of their fellow citizens, and must be stopped.

White people are the majority. Feels nice to avoid issues huh?

Thats not how criminals are treated. America isnt a battle zone.

The point is that this battle space includes Americans on American soil. That we even hear a "parlance unique to the profession of arms" in relation to protesters is the issue.

Pure fascism. Fascist pigs.

Let 'em burn the burn the church to the ground next time right? They're Americans, right? And they should be allowed to kill the secret service and park police, not just put them in the hospital, right? It's their right as Americans.

Nine unarmed blacks were killed by police in 2019. Nine. Out of population of 340 million.

Lol. Poor poor black shirts. I think i need a tissue. Nobody was trying to burn down the church. This is just rank cowardice on display.

Irrelevant

?? Seems relevant to you. "White people are the majority. Feels nice to avoid issues huh?"

Whites are in the minority in my city and are a minority on the LAPD and have been for decades now. And yet the protestors are claiming systemic racism in both the city government and the LAPD. Does this make sense to you?
