Because the killers are likely going to jail and the police did not try to sweep it under the rug

That was not part of the original news broadcast coast to coast.

(A prosecutor in Georgia said he would ask a grand jury to decide if charges should be filed against a white former law enforcement officer and his son over the fatal shooting of an unarmed young black man as he ran through a small town.)

Whites do a Gomer Pyle, "citizens arrest!!, citizens arrest!!", kill guy because they're dumbass rednecks, racist/corrupt prosecutor decides not to press charges, until video gets released, then public pressure forces the prosecutor's hand, and they finally decide that two dumb rednecks stopping a black guy running while black which might be a crime in that town in GA, but isn't enough reason for two dumb****s without badges to hold him at gunpoint then shoot him dead when he doesn't exactly give up willingly to those idiots with a guns driving a pickup.

So if you're going to push this bull****, at least get the facts right. In this case, two or three black guys kill a white guy, they investigate, figure out who it is, and charge those killers with murder, which is what should have happened. That's why it wasn't national news.

I'm pretty sure I recall seeing this on the front page of CNN last year, so I'm also pretty sure the whole "the MSM sweeps murders committed by black people under the rug" narrative is false. Furthermore, as others have remarked, a man was murdered, the police investigated and found the likely perpetrators, arrested and incarcerated them, the grand jury in the case issued indictments, and presumably they will stand trial for murder.

There were roughly 47 murders every day in 2019 in the U.S.--murders that are simply "A murders B, A is arrested, jailed, and charged" aren't newsworthy on a national level. Murders that are "A and B murder C, prosecutor refuses to indict, second prosecutor refuses to indict, and only after the video goes public does a third prosecutor send it to a grand jury" are irregular as murders go, and merit national attention.
