Brian Williams, NY Times editor ridiculed for getting Bloomberg math breakdown very, very wrong

If someone had simply stopped and double-checked some math, they might have saved MSNBC's Brian Williams and New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay some embarrassment and an apology Thursday night.

Instead, both Williams and Gay marveled on air in reaction to a Twitter user's post about Mike Bloomberg's campaign spending.

Trouble is, the post had gotten the math all wrong, yet neither Williams nor Gay seemed to notice.

Anyone can make a mistake, but this is a real whopper! And two people at once, neither of them figured it out. And it seems like Williams saw this before, so it's not like it was just put before him. That and the fact that it never occurred to them that giving $1 million to EVERY American didn't seem quite right. Well, we know Williams has a little problem with reality. But, wow.

They corrected themselves at the end of the segment, but Fox News didn't mention that part.

Brian Williams was busy saving lives in Afghanistan under fire.

It's good to see Fox News is out there reporting the important stuff.

Another excellent example of why I am most skeptical of the statements of the MSM.

And how are you enjoying Trump's "amazing" knowledge about the Coronavirus?

You should probably pose that question in a thread that is on that topic, right? What, no comment on the topic here?

Lol@fox daily outrage.

Oh, and let’s not forget that they had a graphic, so no one on the production team caught it as well. Or, maybe, they just let it go to watch these two make fools of themselves?

They did, in fact, mention that Williams, et al., corrected themselves. Apparently you didn't read the article at the link.

"The 11th Hour" eventually pointed out the mistake on social media.

“Tonight on the air we quoted a tweet that relied on bad math. We corrected the error after the next commercial break and have removed it from later editions of tonight’s program. We apologize for the error,” the verified Twittter account for Williams’ show wrote after the gaffe.

Hmmm, they either think there are only 500 people in the US or they learned math in the same school as Liz Warren. If they had said he could have paid a million to each of the people who ended up supporting him that would have been accurate.

Reminds me of an old email forward from the recession. “Here’s how to fix the economy!” It was along the lines of “give everyone over 50 a million dollars but they have to retire, buy a house, and buy an American car. Boom, housing market fixed, auto industry saved, unemployment solved as 60 million job openings suddenly appear.”

Yeah, the government handing out tens of trillions of dollars all at once is going to have a big effect!

It's breaking news that Fox told its viewers that a target on the left is bad?

Does OP not know what Fox was created to do?
