Federal officials have notified socialist Bernie Sanders that Russia is trying to boost his presidential campaign in an effort to impact who becomes the Democrats’ presidential nominee.

The Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump and other top lawmakers on Capitol Hill have been informed about Russia’s efforts to boost Sanders.

U.S. prosecutors found a Russian effort in 2016 to use social media to boost Sanders’s campaign against Hillary Clinton, part of a broader effort to hurt Clinton, sow dissension in the American electorate and ultimately help elect Donald Trump.

“I don’t care, frankly, who Putin wants to be president,” Sanders said in a statement to The Washington Post. “My message to Putin is clear: Stay out of American elections, and as president I will make sure that you do.

It would be. Bernie isn't a King. Neither is Trump. I would be just as upset and his reluctance to call out the bernie bots more than he has is one of the reasons I am not a big fan of his.

Don't look now, but certain elements within your government want to create division. The Russians don't give a damn which clown lives in the White House. They know from experience that the military industrial complex and the American Israeli Political Action Committee actually control the US government. POTUS is but a figurehead.

If trump and McConnell suddenly get concerned about foreign influence in our elections, then we'll know linc is right and you are wrong.
 
Sanders is trapped between a rock and a hard place on this since it appears the Russians want him to win the nomination is that they believe - and apparently Trump does also - that he would be a very easy opponent for Trump to beat in November and he could spell disaster for Democrats down ticket. This is NOT about helping Bernie - its about helping Trump to stay in power for another term.

But if Sanders admits this is the reason, he gives public credence to the idea that he would be a weak candidate in November.

He gets hurt no matter what happens.

They’re trying to help his campaign because they believe he’ll lose to trump in November.
