Problems with a coronavirus test developed by the CDC have delayed the Trump administration's efforts to expand screening to state and local public health labs, more than two weeks after the FDA granted permission to distribute the CDC test nationwide.

Only three of the more than 100 public health labs across the country have verified the CDC test for use, according to the Association of Public Health Laboratories.

CDC confirmed the problems with the coronavirus test, and with using its flu-surveillance network to screen for the virus. But the agency declined to answer further questions on the matter.

The delay in establishing additional screening capacity could impede the U.S. government’s ability to detect scattered cases before they snowball into larger outbreaks, former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb told POLITICO.

“By that point, it may be harder to contain spread, and we'll be forced to rely on mitigation tactics to just limit the impact of the virus," he said.

What we need is a fast cheap easy test, which we dont have and there is no hint that we will have one soon, but our health leaders can not even do the expensive time consuming test, because they suck.

Oh for God sakes you can't make this stuff overnight. But then you probably don't know much about this kind of thing. Just want to complain.

Harvard epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch told The Wall Street Journal that "it's likely we'll see a global pandemic" of coronavirus, with 40 to 70 percent of the world's population likely to be infected this year.

"What proportion of those will be symptomatic, I can't give a good number," added Lipsitch, who is the Director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Two other experts have recently given similar estimates.

Ira Longini, a biostatistician and adviser to the World Health Organization (WHO), has predicted that two-thirds of the global population may eventually contract COVID-19.

Prof Gabriel Leung, the chair of public health medicine at Hong Kong University, says if the transmission estimate of 2.5 additional people for each infected rate is accurate, that would result in an "attack rate" that would affect 60 to 80 percent of the world's population.

This is 1918 all over again.

We were once told that humans had progressed beyond this crap.

What happened is that the test kits are defective, they were not made RIGHT...CORRECTLY.

Crap work from our elites has long been the norm, but now their crap work is going to outright kill large numbers of people.

The whistleblowing physicians working to fight the virus in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, revealed that medically cleared patients have been getting reinfected, the Taiwan News reported.

“It’s highly possible to get infected a second time,” one of the doctors, who declined to be identified, told the outlet.

The physician said that medication used to treat the virus can have negative side effects on patients’ heart tissue, making them more susceptible to cardiac arrest.

Whistleblower doctors say coronavirus reinfection even deadlier

Oh Great.....

Lairs or morons....that is the question.

This bug will get at least tens of millions.

Are the so-called journalists too dim to know, or are they working to keep people docile for as long as possible?

Health experts sounded the alarm Friday over the worldwide threat of the coronavirus, with officials warning of its "likely" community spread in the United States and the World Health Organization cautioning that "the window of opportunity is narrowing" for containing the outbreak worldwide.

It was clear a week ago that we are going to do 1918 all over again.that the experts had failed at containment..so I file this under "Slightly more honest".

As I said a month ago the experts have been running consistently a week to ten days too late, which is a sure way to lose.

We are so screwed.

I don't consider a 2 percent mortality rate anything to get too worried about when the common flu is 2.8 percent.
