Michigan parent meeting about discrimination interrupted: 'Then why didn't you stay in Mexico?'

The fact that a Mexican man would be treated like that, is, in fact, a display of bigotry. Would you ever think about telling or asking an unhappy white American to "go back to Europe?" No. That type of attitude in nonexistent in America.

For the effing millionth time the guy was not told to go back to Mexico.

You were encouraged that intolerant people were intolerant about a person making a non racist comment?

Maybe I should watch the video again. My volume was low, but I thought the guy told the man with the microphone to 'why didn't you stay in Mexico'. Wasn't that what he said?

Bodhi’s last ditch effort is simple pedantry lol. I bet you thats where he goes “im right because he didnt say go back to mexico!” Take that libs!

Wow. Pedantry. This is pathetic.

Obviously you have no concept of the law. If a person cannot use the facts correctly then they cannot be trusted to present an honest or accurate argument. And that is all you have done is presented he dishonest in inaccurate argument.

Yes. Finally a person who States the quote correctly.

People aren't getting beat on for being English or European. Maybe poles.... But that's a big maybe. In 1876 New York.

Nobody is fighting kids for being polish.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing...

Look at you lol trying to make this a political argument instead of one about the facts lol

but this was a meeting specifically about discrimination in the school, am I right?

No. According to the article, it was about something a student said in a private off-campus conversation, i.e. not the legitimate purview of anyone outside of the families involved.

In essence, the parents were there to discuss discrimination, right? This man was talking about the racial slurs his children had been subjected to on social media by students on the football team.

The meeting happened because football players added their black teammates to a Snapchat group, describing them as 'niggers'. These parents were there to address a deep problem, one of racial discrimination, one that harms people of other races and a problem that could easily infuse hatred and animus in others, enough to encourage them to do physical harm to others that aren't white. Am I right? They were there to find a solution to a very dangerous problem and it's not the place for this white guy to put his own racial prejudice on full display, is it?

Ironic. One of the worst race riots in U.S. history took place IN Chicago.

The Red Summer of 1919 - HISTORY
Not really, big Bill Thompson was the mayor during that time. He was one of the most corrupt politicians in US history and a true blue Republican. And if I’m not mistaking much of the city Council and alderman were red during that era.

There is no indication that anyone was discriminated against.

This man was talking about the racial slurs his children had been subjected to on social media by students on the football team.

The man on video was talking about things that happened years ago involving his now adult children.

Did you actually read the article before commenting?

Which is their right under the First Amendment.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Perhaps you should respond to the news item actually posted (after reading it), or whatever you imagine to be a problem in this country.

There is no protection under the First Amendment for speech that incites imminent lawless action. Referring to Black players on a football team is not only vile and disgusting, it can potentially incite some crazy person to commit a lawless act against a minority.

Again, I would recommend that you actually read the article before replying further. And preferably tailor your responses to the story as it is, without injecting wild fantasy.

I would also recommend that you familiarize yourself with Supreme Court jurisprudence regarding "imminent lawless action". I would explain it to you myself, but in real life I get paid to explain basic concepts to people, and I don't see why I should do the same thing here for free.

I'm gonna guess that most white Americans have never been to Europe.

This is why it’s about race. It’s the same thing as telling black people born in America, “stop complaining or go back to Africa.”

White Americans are never told to leave and go back to Europe, and you admit that that’s true

If you can not be honest about the fact that the guy did not tell him to leave the country, then there is no point discussing anything else... to be honest.

Lol. You’re not being honest about my own post. You’re trying to make this into being about a question and not a demand. My above post illustrates that. My above post involves a question, not a demand. Furthermore, I’ve also offended you personally by asking you anti-Semitic questions. It appears that you’re the one engaging in this honesty. You’re also protecting a bigot, and pretending the situation and his behavior was not offensive.

For the effing millionth time the guy was not told to go back to Mexico.

For the million freaking time, you don’t have a point. First of all, read my post. Secondly, there’s very little difference between accusing a Jew of committing blood liable on Passover, or just simply asking a Jew, “did you commit the traditional blood libel this Passover?"

Stop gaslighting

It is only racism if the person telling you to get out of the country is telling you to get out because of your race. Watching you guys try to make non racist things racist is astounding

You don’t have a crystal ball and you can’t read this man’s mind. Given the context of the situation, I think it’s pretty obvious the man said what he did, because he was from Mexico and not white.

The guy did not say he should have stayed in Mexico because he was Mexican. Stop making crap up. Good grief indeed....

So you can read minds? What do you think motivated him to suggest the man to go back?

Secondly the facts are that a lot of white people were also in that room. I think many of those white people are obviously concerned about racism. We know for a fact, the bigot didn’t tell any white person to go back to Europe, because they were concerned or complaining about racism in the SD. He’s only on video telling a Mexican father that.

If a person only tells or suggests nonwhite people to go back where they’re from, then that is racism

He was not addressing anything about what was said to his kids....
Um, Iraola was describing the slurs his kids faced, Burtell interjects with "Then why didn’t you stay in Mexico?”, and now you get to gaslight with it wasn't about what was said to the kids.

I can't debate an argument so detached from reality.

Patel said that because the other guy was complaining... not about what he was complaining about.
