Trump blasted top military generals as "a bunch of dopes and babies" according to new book

Trump blasted top military generals as ‘a bunch of dopes and babies’ according to new book

President Donald Trump blasted top military officials as “losers” and “a bunch of dopes and babies” for a lack of success in the recent wars during a tense meeting early in his presidency that set a negative tone for the relationship between the Pentagon and White House, according to a new book except released Friday.
The volume — “A Very Stable Genius: Donald J. Trump’s Testing of America,” written by a pair of Washington Post reporters — chronicles the first three years of Trump presidency, offering interviews with insiders about high-level administration discussions the authors say have not been made public before

He called Afghanistan a “loser war” and told generals assembled there that “you don’t know how to win anymore.” He attacked the group for the costs of ongoing military operations overseas and said that the United States should have gotten payments in oil from allies it assisted in the Middle East.
“I wouldn’t go to war with you people,” the book quotes Trump as saying to the military officials. “You’re a bunch of dopes and babies.”

For a rich buffoon who got out of serving our country by using a phony excuse like bone spurs, he sure knows how to trash four star generals.

    ....according to a new book

And how many threads does this make now on this subject? A thread was started on this crap this morning, hours before the OP started this thread. Apparently using the "search" feature is difficult for some people.

He conveniently forgot that part. Witnessed by many.

This is the same Trump that disrespected Gold Star families, overruled military courts to pardon war criminals, and said he preferred soldiers "who didn't get captured."

All this from a chicken **** rich kid, who let Daddy buy off a podiatrist who rented a street-side office in one of Fred Trumps Brooklyn buildings.

The subject of the OP is so foreign to what has been on display, for even the casual observer, for the last three years............./s

One has to take what he is "reported to have said" with a grain of salt.

That being said, Trump's consistent and persistent deriding and denigrating of the military is a personal issue that stems from his need to define himself as a man after cowering from military service long ago. He eyes the uniform with resentment and knows deep down that his status as the Commander-in-Chief is an insult to those who had and have the courage to wear one.

    - He saw no problem (neither did his voters) with denigrating a Silver Star Veteran on the campaign trail, even as that Veteran was a POW when he was avoiding service.

    - He has harassed Gold Star families, because he has lived a life of callousness and no sacrifice.

    - He has insulted far superior and honorable men like General Mattis, who finally had enough with the buffoon and quit, thereby earning Trump's childish scorn.

    - He has disrupted the chain of command and insulted the very notion of military discipline by signaling to the Pentagon that war criminals should -and will- be forgiven.

    - He paraded himself around for giving the Pentagon money, then turned around and yanked it to pay for his ignorant promise of border security.

    - His son likened Veteran graves to the sacrifice he and his family has made in terms of money lost since belching into the White House.

He scoffs what he clearly cannot understand. And given how he dodged the draft, he wouldn't go to war with anybody. This is a man who sought to raise himself to the levels of the courageous, who volunteer to serve during wartime, by declaring that he would run into a school shooting event to save the day.

Remember when he loved the generals and appointed some to his cabinet. They are all gone now. He is so shallow.

Would you expect anything less from a person who knows more than the generals do?

Oh, there is meaning here to...

    Picture1.jpg

This had nothing to do with love; and everything to do with his routine historical behavior of seeking approval and legitimacy. This goes way back to when he wasn't accepted among the wealthy in Florida. His inflated ego is based on him injecting himself into the spotlight every chance he gets. And then when he has people's attention, he obnoxiously promotes himself as some sort of economic royalty in order to earn applause. The fact that he surrounds himself with yes men only makes it worse because "everybody say's so" holds meaning to him. And the very reason he constantly holds political pep rallies, as if still campaigning for the job, is to get the attention he craves while the rest of the world criticizes him for the very real stupidity that is his Administration.

With the Marine Generals, he wanted to show his legitimacy in the Office and that his status as a draft dodger holds no meaning. Prior to this, he won the Presidency through the technicality of the Electoral College, leading him to falsely declare that illegals gave Clinton the popular vote. In other words, after spending eight years de-legitimizing Obama's election through his birther nonsense, he actually tried to de-legitimize his own election! This is how desperate he is to be accepted by people. Surrounding himself with Marine Generals was supposed to show his toughness, that his draft dodging status in not about cowardice, and how the Pentagon truly accepts him as Commander-in-Chief. Even his "forgiveness" of the SEAL, after the SEAL was admonished by the Navy and Pentagon for his criminal behavior, was about trying to align himself with toughness for his voters, of whom he has proven to have little respect for. Somehow, that was supposed to show his "support for the troop," while thumbing his nose at military discipline and showing the Pentagon his ass.

But with the revolving door of his Administration, which is now far worse than even Carter's was, he proves how unlikable, stubborn, and fool-headed he is. Economists, military leaders, diplomats, foreign leaders, nor environmentalists can work with him. With his Administration now filled with yes-men, his Foreign Policy and behavior has gotten worse and worse; and American interests has suffered for it. He is a walking contradiction to his own 2017 National Security Strategy because his entire behavior is based on his ego and pure guessing of what might endear him to his Conservative voters. He makes what he hopes is a popular decision instead of the tactful decision (an Obama issue too). Actual American interests were maliciously shelved long ago (just a misguided issue for Obama) and replaced with a personal need to be cheered for in order to survive into the next term. In the end, this will kill more Americans, especially the troops that he pretends to give a **** about. What do you think his whole personal crusade against Iran is about? It's about pleasing the ignorance of his voters. If Iran finally has enough of America's twenty year foolishness and bites, our troops will pay the price, not the draft dodger who exploits their blood in order to look tough. Easy to pick fights against tough guys, when you rely on other tough guys to defend you. And in Trump's mind, that picture with the six Marine Generals made him tough too. ...but then they abandoned him to his idiocy and mental weakness.
