I did not know whether to put this in the "On the Lighter Side" Forum. But since the guy is serious...

A Kansas man has asked an Iowa court to grant his motion for trial by combat so he can meet his ex-wife and her attorney "on the field of battle where (he) will rend their souls from their corporal bodies."

David Ostrom, 40, of Paola, Kansas, claims in court documents that his ex-wife, Bridgette Ostrom, 38, of Harlan, has "destroyed (him) legally."

He asked the Iowa District Court in Shelby County to give him 12 weeks "lead time" in order to source or forge katana and wakizashi swords, as first reported by the Carroll Times Herald.

Reminds me of a dated shock jock joke.


An indigenous tribe had caught two poachers and were subjecting them to tribal justice. The two were found guilty and offered “Death or Katanga!”

The first poacher gulped and decided on “Katanga.” Whereupon all the males in the tribe had their way with him. The second poacher was asked his choice of justice. “Death,” he proclaimed, the chief decreed, “death by Katanga!”............:mrgreen:

I guess the ex-wife is 'ex' for a very good reason. Also, I see order of protections, and fire arms for defense in the future.
