If the rules stated that rainbows and multicolored cakes were unacceptable at any time and place, I'd have no problem with their enforcing the rules, as they would have been agreed to by all parties. Using an undefined term like "lifestyle violations" means that the school can make up the rules as they go along.

I might. I just can't see parents revealing something like that when they are trying to defend their child's conduct. In my opinion the information was released by the school to support their statement that she had been repeatedly guilty of lifestyle violations.

Does it say anywhere in the handbook that the school would be making up the rules as they go along?

It promotes racism, hatred, nationalism stokes paranoia and class and tribal resentment. It's led by a venerated cult figure who is not only literally mobbed up, but is actively subverting and destroying the constitution and its limits.

It should be obvious to anyone familiar with twump's lifelong criminal history, mob ties and what his worshipers are eagerly willing to tolerate and promote.

    Oh, please.

I really don't know how you can say this when none of us have enough of the facts. We have no idea what this student's disciplinary history is or anything else yet. And FERPA will probably prevent the school from sharing information.

Bingo! It's a private school. As long as no federal funds are involved and as long as the school conforms to accreditation standards they can teach hate in the name of love. There is no law against that. Most of us would likely not send our children there or to similar schools, but some people want their children to be educated in the manner in which Whitefield educates its students.

It's Kayla Kenney's mom's responsibility to know about the school. Ultimately the entire affair falls on Kayla's parents. Why put your child in that position to begin with?

I damn sure wouldn't send one of my children to such a school.

Whitefield Academy, a private Christian school, expelled 15-year-old freshman*Kayla Kenney*for having the*audacity*to celebrate her birthday with a multi-colored cake while wearing a rainbow sweater.

    Because*everyone*knows what that really means.

We don't even know that she's gay. But hey, rainbows, OMG! Guess the Noah story doesn't mean anything to them.
It really cracks me up when right-wing nuts hysterically claim that "leftists want to rule their lives" when it's the religious right that wants to dictate what one can do or wear in their own home!

Right-wing nuts are all about morality unless it's one of them that's screwing up.. like trump committing adultery, or "pro-life" congressmen making their wives and girlfriends get abortions.

this story is just...stupid. The school is wrong...undeniably...unquestionably wrong. It is as wrong for that school to discipline her for her off campus clothing choice and cake as it was for the school that suspended a student for posting pictures of him at a gun range...and I suspect you were probably pretty upset about THAT injustice...right?
What difference does it make that the event was off campus? In our current society we are seeing people getting fired from their jobs all the time for saying something on social media their employers found unacceptable. Is that wrong? Maybe, but then those things usually end up having to be decided in court if they are challenged. Maybe this girl or her representatives will challenge the school policy in court. Otherwise not much else can be done, apparently.

They probably have a policy against gay activism. Which, okay, but why do we assume that's what this was?
