Christian School Expels Girl for Wearing Rainbow Sweater on Her Birthday

What do you want him to say if the girl was in fact showing support for LGBT?

He wants me to say i would rail against it. To "prove I'm a hyopcrite" or some such BS.

The fact, however, is that there is zero evidence that she is gay, or was making a political statement.

Of course it matters. You are claiming that the act was innocent and not symbolic, "just colorful clothing". If you are saying that's all there was to it then its just a mistaken impression by the school. Hardly worth you writing the op over a misimpression.

On the other hand, if you are defending her regardless of her intent, then it wasn't "just colorful clothing", it was over support of gay pride.

You're going to have to choose, rather than dodge your real complaint.

There is no evidence thst she was making a political statement. Right now, I'm wearing a shirt thst has Animal from the Muppets on it. What political statement am i making?

I want him to be honest about what he objects too. It's either "just colorful clothing" not intended to support gay pride or it's symbolic messaging by the girl and/or her family. Dodging the issue by dismissing the incident as a misunderstanding is not acceptable IF what he is really objecting to is the school's bias against gay pride celebration.

OMG!!

I knew it....Skittles is gay food....amirite???

That those Christians are puppets? :D

Yes, it is, but it requires actually intellectual honesty to understand why.

It's nothing any twump sycophant would ever be interested in.

Right on cue with your speech impediment.

Ok then do you have a proof that she was doing it for gay pride?

Right on cue with your speech impediment.

There are no speech impediments in written text since there is no speech in written text. That you don't know that isn't even remotely surprising.

Yet again, you're in waaaaay over your head.

So you are defending her on the basis of innocence, a misunderstanding of her intent. If she is truly innocent of intent, I imagine she might be forgiven and warned not to wear such symbolism again.

On the other hand, I think very naive to assume it was entirely innocent.

I object to the assumption that wearing a colorful sweater indicates support for anything at all.

So you assume all rainbows are "gay?"

So it is right for the school to expel her based on their assumption without question? Besides that shirt was pretty common in the 70's. Same design and colors.

I think it shows the posters lack of experience to assume that a rainbow sweater combined with a rainbow cake was entirely innocent, especially by a child/family that has had school lifestyle infractions for two years.

And the context of use, and rather obvious cake design, a reasonable person needn't believe "all rainbows are "gay"", but many (perhaps most these days) are intended to convey gay pride.

Of course the family could clear this up by explaining that it does not support gay pride and that is a big mistake - an explicit defense I notice that they dodge.

that you have terrible taste in clothing?

What does "lifestyle violation" even mean? Are they claiming that she's lesbian?

They have already explained. READ.

“There was nothing intended by that and even when I went back and got the receipt from the bakery, it didn’t say anything about representation, it just said assorted colors.”

That's almost a defense, except they dodged the core issue for the school. If they favor gay pride then they are out. "Nothing intended" is close but no cigar.

What is your point? That she has a history of doing it? Or that the school is suggesting that she has been "behaving" like a lesbian (lifestyle violation)? Or they are lying? Or they are doing it to stick it up to school? What?

It's not the 70s.

a few years ago, my wife knitted for our daughter and for my son's then girl friend each a toboggan and scarf from the same material

yes, it was rainbow colored yarn
they both howled with laughter when they opened their gifts
my crafty, art teacher wife had no idea about the significance of the rainbow colors to the LGBTQ community
proving she is even more naive than i

that vignette is shared to illustrate that everyone does not associate rainbow colors with non-heterosexual inclinations ... they just see them as pretty rainbow colors
could it be that this 15 year old just liked rainbow colors?

In the interview, the mother stated the girl wasn't making a statement...

And that her parents just liked buying a cake covered by a rainbow motif?

It's possible, but its also unlikely.
