[h=1]West Point investigating hand symbol with possible links to white power used by cadets during Army-Navy game[/h]
West Point is investigating a hand gesture made by several cadets and midshipmen during an ESPN pre-game broadcast at the Army-Navy game Saturday after clips of the signals went viral because of their association with white power.

“West Point is looking into the matter,” a spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “At this time we do not know the intent of the cadets.”

Many on social media expressed shock and outrage because of the symbol’s recent association with white power. Others argued that the students were just playing a game.

It may seem insignificant to some but for others that revere these two institutions, the West Point Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy, are simply stunned that there were this man and others that displayed the symbol of White supremacy.

That uniform symbolizes discipline to real soldiers. He's a disgrace and will be expelled and or less than honorable discharge.

Scumbags disgracing our uniform. He should suffer legal repercussions in cheating the military out of a trained officer after the military provided an education and training. He owes us, society. He cheated us.

Lock him up.

My first thought when I read the headline was oh bull****. Here we go again. But...

I do think this along with the several other images shown were expressions by certain cadets of a 'white power' symbol...and think they should be investigated and probably expelled, lacking a REALLY GOOD explanation.

From the article:

John, it looked like to me they were playing “the circle game”; you make that hand gesture (that forms a circle) and if your buddy looks at it you punch them in the arm or some similar “punishment”. It’s been popular with bro’s & jocks for a long time.

People, even cadets, are entitled to their personal views.

But, of course, they should not express certain views in public.

I hope that they are allowed to graduate and stay in the Army.

They will be ordered to never again use that hand sign, for it can be interpreted in different ways.

Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill, for goodness' sake!

It was a few cadets and a few midshipmen.

A central factor to assess is that it is the ambiguity of the gesture that motivates white power supremacists to use it and then to claim its use was innocent and ordinary.

Let's remember context also, ie, Donald Trump is potus and commander in chief -- and he was present at the game. In addition to the prominent personages, time, place and circumstance are also central factors to an investigation.

We don't mean time on the clock but the times. The place was the stadium where the Army-Navy game was being played amidst great hype and the cadets were feeling their oats. Central to the circumstance, the game was on national and global tv networks on the annual occasion that is also called "America's Game" -- no other NCAA games are played on the Saturday of the Army-Navy game.

While the cadets being investigated can be expected to play to the max the ambiguity and innocence of their high profile gesturing in a tv live news report setting, we can expect the chain of command of the Army and the Navy and the commanders of the two academies to put a flashlight up the arse of the cadets involved in this fiasco and rightly so.

Cadets of the government armed services academies are active duty enlisted personnel sworn to the enlisted oath for all of their time as cadets. Which means all cadets at the government full time residential academies are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Indeed, if the only or primary response of the cadets involved is the ambiguity of the gesture, we can expect Pentagon to conclude that stupidity is not a defense legally and morally and to can the cadets. That is, the cadets be gone and rightfully so and with the appropriate discharge and liabilities to the taxpayer.

For many who have never worn the uniform they simply don't know that you never, never disgrace the uniform.

I don't know if they were flashing a white power hand signal or trying to be funny the end results is the same. Somebody got their ass royally chewed on for certain.

If you ever served you'd know THE MILITARY, even cadets, are not allowed to express those views while in uniform. I hope in this era of tRumpness we don not dilute the traditions of the military and allow 'games' to be done on the national stage.

As for the cadets, to engage in these 'games' on national TV shows a lack of maturity and intelligence... :peace

Navy & cancel culture for the win...

Personal views sure... Neo Nazi views hell no. They should be investigated fully, as should all in the class and school. Anyone found having any links to far right neo nazi groups should be kicked out immediately.

The Neo Nazi Scum need to be treated as they would treat others...

Communist scum should be treated the same way. I liked how the Army cashiered that commie piece a **** last year.

If these boys are white supremacists, they should be doing the duffle bag drag before the sun goes down.

It's called the circle game. It's been around since at least the mid 90s. It's nothing new, nor does it (nor the similar OK hand symbol) have anything to do with white supremacy. The 'white supremacy' stuff was created by 4chan trolls who wanted to see just how far off the deep end they could get liberals to go, by spreading posts and rumors that the 'ok' symbol was a secret white supremacist hand symbol. And boy, were they right - libs have dived straight into that deep end with relish.

Sure, but how exactly would thier treatment be? Lots of hugs and group therapy? Now if you mean Stalinist communist scum then you may have some guidelines to follow.

At a time of 24/7 news, social media and cameras EVERYWHERE anyone stupid enough to do something like this shouldn't be in ANY uniform and should be kicked out.

Maybe lets find out what really happened? Maybe just once?
Could this be another rush to judgement because it's a way to smear?
Time is our friend here. We will discover what actually happened. Just be a little patient!

Left-wing media publications were quick to smear a group of Army and Navy cadets on Saturday as the two service academies squared off on the gridiron in what is an intense football rivalry, accusing a group of them of flashing “white power” signs.

Media Smears Army, Navy Cadets, Accuses Them Of Flashing White Power Symbols | The Daily Wire

There was strong pushback against the smear attempts, with many noting that the cadets were playing the “circle game.”

Former senior White House adviser Cliff Sims wrote: “Here we go again. This time it’s @ByMikeBrehm of @usatodaysports trying to ruin the lives of cadets for playing the circle game, because in some alternate reality they just MUST be white supremacists. At some point someone’s gotta bring a defamation case against these lunatics.”

Popular sports analyst Clay Travis tweeted: “Good lord. They were playing the circle game. America has gone insane.”

Curt Schilling wrote: “This is just idiotic. It’s a bunch of guys playing the circle game about 10 years after their friends all stopped. But ya, let’s make it out to be racist, since everything else you see and hear is as well.”

Attorney Kurt Schlichter issued a warning to the media, writing on Twitter: “This is a warning to the media… If you Convington the cadets, you will be held accountable in court in front of a jury and not in your comfortable, sympathetic blue enclave venue. Do not participate in the defamation of these American heroes.”

Many people on social media were quick to point out the double standard that the media and far-left activists were using to smear the cadets by highlighting politicians on the political Left who use the same hand gesture, like socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who posts photos of herself using the gesture on her verified social media accounts.

Ryan Saavedra on Twitter: "Don’t forget your pal, white supremacist Ocasio-Cortez https://t.co/WhOaImEapi… "

i wonder if these soldiers will be willing to fight alongside black soldiers in dangerous situations.

you think maybe they're lose the hate when their lives are on the line and they have to depend upon each other to survive?

you know. brothers in arms.

Why wouldn’t they? Do you think West Point is an all white institution?

most definitely not. that's why it would be bizarre if there are any white supremacists there. they have to fight together.

this is what fascinates me...

if this turns out to be true, what % of americans would either support it, have no problem with it or decide to just ignore it (be sympathetic).

You might want to understand the hand gesture before going off half cocked.

Could there be white supremacists at West Point? Sure, but I would be surprised if that were the case.
