Capitalism, as applied/practiced today, originated in 1913 when our monetary system replaced gold/silver with a fiat monetary system giving government the power to create money.
The great depression provided the crisis necessary to allow the Federal government to rise to the top of the power structure over all governments, State and local, and most of all the individual citizens.

Yeah it one time vagrancy was a crime. and because of that there are fewer homeless people because the ones that were able to would eventually start working and find a way to live,. The ones that weren't able to wear properly cared for. Now they just languish and die in the streets.

Am I to believe that that's compassionate?

1. What law(s) are you referring to?

2. It is NOT capitalism, but population that exceeds the demand of employment by employers. While an excess of unspent capital may exist, it requires those who are unemployed to perform some form of labour to acquire it.

3. Can't argue with that, a prospective employee has a right to refuse the benefits offered by an employer.

4. Unemployment compensation exists with reasoned/rational rules enabling one to acquire it.


Why are we told to "Don't feed the bears."?

It is about unemployment compensation for being naturally unemployed. It should be as easy as going to the unemployment office and signing up.

Unemployment compensation was created in the 1930's. We have an uniform way and means to accomplish the end.

The laws regarding employment at the will of either party.

Unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed is also about our capital based morality in modern times.

Why would anyone want to engage in property theft or larceny if they could simply apply for unemployment compensation instead.

Even higher thresholds would make more sense in that case and less that "traffic congestion for the Courts".

It is about increasing market Participation under our form of socialism and equality, under our form of Capitalism.

lol. Wealth has doubled for the Richest under Tax Cut economics. Yet, Capitalists whine about increasing wages for the Poor. Henry Ford did not make those Capital excuses. He doubled auto-worker wages and did not complain about Minimum wages, like the right wing does in modern economic times.

We have a federal doctrine to ensure it can happen nation-wide. All it takes is one State to more faithfully protect our natural and civil rights.

We should have much less crime if the desperate can apply for unemployment compensation instead of becoming a "privateer for their own immediate needs."

All that money would be put back into our economy since more people could afford more market friendly participation.

And, higher paid Labor simply create more Demand and pay more Taxes.

you know why the rich have gotten even richer since 1980...which is a year a lot of you like to use

two MAIN reasons

1. They invested in their companies....tech was changing the workplace...computers and workstations, spreadsheets and automation have changed almost every business accross America....and it all started in the late 1970's and has grown exponentially....as they invest in machines and tech, they need less and less people, which means more and more profit for them and their company

2. They invested in other peoples companies...in the market
In Jan 1980, the DJIA was 824.57.....today it is 27873
In Jan 1980, the S&P 500 index was 110.90, and today it is 3139.09

You cant become wealthy if you dont invest....and investments take time to payoff....most people get scared of market gyrations and always feel they can never afford to save....when in reality, they cant afford NOT TO

Those are both 30 fold increases....hard not to make money in the market in these 40 years
