Justice IG to testify next month on alleged 2016 surveillance abuse | TheHill

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee next month to testify on a forthcoming report on alleged surveillance abuse during the 2016 campaign.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who oversees the panel, announced on Monday that Horowitz will appear publicly on Dec. 11.

Granted, this would not be the first scheduled testimony that didn't take place if it falls apart but it does give an indication that some of this 2016 stuff will finally get a proper airing.

My guess, for the record, is that Horowitz will make it clear that Trump actually started the investigation into himself as part of a scheme hatched with Putin to discredit Clinton and Schiff. I predict that 15 minutes after this hearing happens we'll see CNN announce that it has a highly placed anonymous source that will release all the documentation proving that Trump set himself up for the sole purpose of promoting his brand internationally.

Actually, it will be kind of interesting to see what comes of this. There was a good bit of political game playing when the initial FISA was released and accusations flew from both sides of the aisle so it will be entertaining to get a third party perspective regarding what actually went on.

All I know is that this is fantastic precedent.

It is. There are very few things, politically speaking, that have happened since 2016 which have FAILED to set new precedents.

Yep. From now on, any investigation will itself be investigated.

I am just sitting back thinking about how this would work if Hillary Clinton wound up as president. Laughs all around.

There would probably the same rioting, fires and looting as we saw the day Obama got elected.

I was thinking more of endless recursive investigations, but okay.

Those liberals are just the scum of the earth, aren't they? No matter what the reality or hypothetical, you just know they're doing the wrong thing. The poopyfaces!

Know what we did see before and after Obama got elected? Years and years of not-liberals accusing him lying about his birthplace, lying about his religion, being racist against white people, hating America, wanting to destroy America (trying to as well), using global warming to transfer wealth to third world countries and several more boatloads of insane reactionary ****. Joke all you like, but...just no.

Now, if wrongdoing occurred, it should be addressed. But it'd be nice if you lot spoke up about FISA abuses 33,000+ warrants ago rather than just the one time one lead to discovery that your dear leader was naughty. It'd also be nice if, assuming there is wrongdoing shown, if your lot do NOT immediately try using the Carter Page FISA warrant to claim either that nothing happened or that it's OK, or worse try to spin it towards the completely unrelated Ukraine thing.

Won't hold my breath though.

Well said.

They don't care about the fourth amendment getting **** on, when police lie about smelling weed, so they can search somebody. No, it's just when their civil rights are touched that they suddenly care about probable cause and police accountability.

I haven't handled anything FISA-related, but it's a bit of its own animal. Eitherway, it's been going since 1979 and peaked 2001-2008, and when does everyone (on a certain 'side') get pissed?

Yeah. That.

On the broader point, I'm generally annoyed with most people. They'll say they care about the constitution and understand it's overriding importance. But you just try telling a story about some suppression issue in a case you handled, worked on, or even simply know about and watch them forget where the ****s they had to give wandered off to when it turns out that the person whose 4th amendments were violated is accused of beating his two girlfriends and selling meth/heroin.......or anything like that. (And for extra credit, tell them about an illegal search of the residence of a person who murdered and buried a pregnant minor; get ugly enough and they'll start talking about the ways they imagine they'd like to kill the accused...)

But that's another story.

The usual Full Attack Mode Damage Control initiated by the Progressive-MSM will certainly FAIL to set any precedents.

Well, the birthers and religion were pretty much a fringe thing but racism, hating America, etc. that was pretty legit and, frankly, it's still going on with his fan base.

If it is scheduled Dec. 11 for the Senate Judiciary, that means the report will be released right before the Thanksgiving break or right after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend which will be approx. Dec.1. We know it is over 500 pages long. You wouldn't need a 500 page report if there was no wrong doing.

The Judiciary in the Senate will need time to prepare for the hearing and in the meantime the media or at least the honest left will be covering it as soon as it is released.

This also says to me the Durham has already put before a grand jury those Horowitz has recommended for prosecution.

The rest of Durham's criminal investigation will come later.

Not yet. Weaponizing Govt Depts, as Trump has done, I hope is an aberration

Seriously?
Pal you are about to learn just how bad the Obama administration weaponized our intel, DOJ and FBI against the Trump campaign and beyond. It is going to make sit and spin,

I have my own saying, based upon a lawyer representing themselves.
When one lies to themselves they are lying to a fool

Then your Republic has serious issue if any party uses this again

Yeah, you might have noticed that things are doing really well. Wheels still on the cart, that sort of thing.

I don't know who the heck you are talking about but Horowitz's report is going to be damning for the FBI and DOJ under Obama. There was spying on the Trump campaign clear after he was comfirmed through months later. I am hearing this report is anywhere between 500 to 1000 pages. FISA abuse, illegal leaking, improper protocol, …………..
Some people are going to jail.

So sit and spin all you want.

You may be absolutely correct, but where are you "hearing" all of this?

From different accounts that are not CNN or MSNbc, Huffington Post, Media Matters, Daily Kos, NYT, WaPo.

Just curious as to how anyone could possibly "know" what is in the upcoming report.
Speculation and wishful thinking probably.
But we shall soon find out.

Fair enough radioman, been following this for a long time. People I trust to be truthful say its a bombshell.
But you are right, we shall soon find out.
