Italian council is flooded immediately after rejecting measures on climate change

Ironic...

Veneto regional council, which is located on Venice's Grand Canal, was flooded for the first time in its history on Tuesday night -- just after it rejected measures to combat climate change.

"Ironically, the chamber was flooded two minutes after the majority League, Brothers of Italy, and Forza Italia parties rejected our amendments to tackle climate change," ...

Symbolic of how our species will go down ?

How can ANYONE see the Democratic Party as anything but the party only for mentally retarded idiots given their claim that all of them will be totally destroyed if the sea level rises 2 inches.

Our species has survived Ice Ages and global warming before.

Just saying....

We can hope the Democratic Party doesn't survive anyway.

Survival is much simpler when the changes happen over many centuries and adaptation has time to happen.

Just sayin'...

I'm sure our ancestors had the same feeling when the Ice began to recede from what would become New York City.
Our ancestors weren’t living in a highly advanced society that was dependent on the complex and modern conveniences that we are today. It would’ve been much easier to adapt then. If you wanna understand the real time repercussions of global warming, have a conversation with an Alaskan crab fisherman or a northern Maine lobster fishermen. Talk to somebody who lives in northern Alaska near a melting glacier. It’s easy to deny global warming when you live in the middle of nowhere Ohio or Nebraska in a cookie-cutter community surrounded by miracle grow lawns and strip malls.

Why do you agitate for and promote a Marxist USA?

An interesting hypothesis.

It's affecting shellfish aquaculture where I live. CO2 dissolving in the sea water lowers the pH level and that inhibits certain shellfish species from forming shells. One of the oldest companies has laid off everyone except the family members. It's also having a bad effect on the permafrost up north threatening underground infrastructure. Seems to happen quicker at high latitudes, further north and south, but the ball is rolling.

Hypothesis? It's so blindly obvious that it is depressing that someone had to explain it. It's so obvious that even people who want to lie about AGW to score political points against the Hated Librulz understand it.

This is what happens when certain sub-forums leak out into the general discussion........

You realize that even though that was an incredibly rapid pace on a geologic scale, the pace of temperature change now is vastly more rapid, right?

Oh, wait.

I just realized who I was responding to.

Realization of reality when it conflicts with ideology is not a strong trait of the poster.

Someone brought chips made with Olestra to the environment forum.

A little perspective: This isn't the first time Venice has flooded and this week's flood is the second highest water level in Venice's history.

Venice Has Its Worst Flood in 53 Years - Scientific American Blog Network

A little perspective; you didn’t read your link to the end!

— From your link: Flooding in Venice is steadily worsening, since sea level is rising at the same time that the city is sinking. Relative sea level has risen about 25 cm (9.8 in) in Venice in the 100 years ending in 2012. About half of the this was due to human-caused global sea level rise, and the other half from subsidence due to natural and human causes.

It's not that we won't survive global warming but rather that it will have drastic negative consequences such as the rise of sea level and making arid environments less suitable for growing crops, leading to famines. This is compounded with the fact that it's all happening so quickly. The previous warming which ended the ice age took place over thousands of years while the current warming took place over just 200 years.

It's not about species survival. Humanity will endure rising sea levels and increased heat; lack of arable land and yes, the filth of pollution created by fossil fuels and other industries supported by the right wing. The question is at what cost to quality of life and international political, social and economic stability. Lives and species will be destroyed; conflict famine and genocide will ensure for some.

My guess is we won't cop it as hard as those in developing countries.

Yes, hypothesis.

I agree the whole global social justice thing using "climate change" as a carrier is depressing.

Suggesting the human species will disappear unless all human turn over control of their lives to an unelected group of central planners is the stuff of insanity.

Quite depressing how many people confirm their enthusiasm for such a surrender.

LOL.

And the solution to the pending end of the human race is to give money and power to a group of unknown, unelected people, who will decide how the human race gets to live.

I just realized who I was responding to. Such human defeatism and surrender is the cornerstone of their type.

The poster implied the human species was at risk of extinction. That, like most of the insanity tied to the climate propaganda, is insane.
