A bit of both I should think. So much for Trump coattails. I am sure this will have more than a few Republicans concerned.

He did but Given how much effort Beshear made to say people who still supported Trump were supporting him-I suspect that KY will vote for Trump in 2020. State elections (like governor or Supreme court judges) have a much different dynamic than voting for a senator or congressman which influences the balance of the senate. I will never vote for a dem for senate or congress but I have voted for Strickland and Cordray for Governor in Ohio

Bevin was down 10 points a few months ago. But for the libertarian (28K votes-way more than the margin) he most likely would have won
 
Kentucky Sec'y of State just called in to CNN to declare Beshear the victor.
 
What's the state legislature makeup in Kentucky?

I expect kentucky to stay red in the presidential vote. I do not however understand your thinking. The governor has much more influence on a state than either of the senators. You'll vote for a dem gov but not a congress member? I don't get it? It also doesn't say much to me that your thinking is so rigid as to say never.

I'm pretty sure the needle has moved in general at least a few points towards the Dems. How much that will transfer in specific terms when applied across this large & diverse country, remains to be seen. It definitely will matter. But will it be enough?

the black GOP candidate for AG crushed the Democrat. The GOP secretary of state also won.

Probably not? I think you said you were in your 70's in another thread, which would mean you grew up during the Cold War. I don't know many American seniors who aren't propagandized beyond belief on believing that the Soviets were baby-eating monsters.

AP just switch their call saying the race currently is too close to call after Beshear gave his acceptance speech.

State governors don't determine the balance of the senate or the balance of congress

BTW the GOP won the two other big races in KY and the republican candidate for AG obliterated the Democrat. This was an office the Dems had held since 1948 (Beshear was the incumbent AG and moved up to win governor)

My sole focus is on voter suppression. I'm wondering if Kentucky's state legislature has a Republican supermajority to ram through such efforts.

Except the sec state already called it, from what I gather.
 
By 2024 at the latest, Dems will be in control of the House, the Senate, and the Executive branch. Exactly how long it will take to undo the damage Trump and the GOP has done is yet to be determined. There will be no healing as long as the 'Great Divider' is POTUS.

I looks like it will be going into a recount. Bevins said if his opponent won he wishes him the best. But Bevins has not conceded.

what exactly is the objective damage you speak of. I am hoping Trump replaces at least two more justices on the supreme court-maybe three since CT might well retire. That would be a good check against Democrats hatred of certain rights

What part of the USA do you live in? being 25 miles from KY, our local news channels cater as much to NKy as they do Cincinnati.
