The city agreed to spend millions of dollars on reducing class sizes; promised to pay for hundreds more social workers, nurses and librarians; and approved a 16 percent salary increase over the coming five years.

Actually, it is much cheaper. And it wont be going up to pay for greed, it will be going up to improve schools- most of the money didnt go to increased salaries - it went for more help in the schools and to make them much more competitive with the excellent suburban schools that I enjoy and pay for with high tax rates.

Not sure why you think good schools are a bad thing. I’m guessing its the whole conservative mentality - better schools mean more educated people which means less conservatives.

and yet you continue to dismiss that the teachers sought - and received - better conditions for their students. their effort was not simply about increasing their own compensation. they recognized the students' plight and did something about it

This is some of that "if you don't for my guy, you're voting for the other guy!" nonsense. No one owed Bevin a vote. Bevin did not own anyone's vote. He was not entitled to those votes and no one took any votes away from him, because they were never his to have them taken from him.

The Democrat won because more people chose to vote for him. Had Bevin appealed more to the libertarians, perhaps he would have won. But he obviously didn't.
