You Asked For It, GOP: Full House Will Vote on Process for Impeachment

Probably in favor.

HA HA and HA. you've got to be kidding me. Their whole defense is to stall and hope the voters get bored with this.

Actually, you'd be wrong. This vote is going to establish rules and principles for the inquiry, including public hearings, due process rights, rules of evidence and a lot of other things Schiffhead has never heard of. AND it will put the performance of committee members in public view as well as having ALL testimony under public view rather than selective leaks.
And any times Dems try to screw the minority, we'll all know about it.

But the big win is getting the Democrats to overshadow their own 2020 primary race.

In those crossover Congressional Districts that the Dems won in 2018, this vote will be spun by Trump-GOP as an "impeachment vote". For Pelosi to move forward with this inquiry vote, she must be pretty confident these individual Congress-persons' vote will translate to an actual impeachment vote when the time comes.

So I'm predicting the (full) impeachment is a done deal. Lindsey Graham may have announced a Senate resolution without having the votes, but I highly doubt Pelosi can afford to be so cavalier in a matter like impeachment. So again, you heard it from me first: She has the votes to impeach, and she will. It's a done deal.
She has the votes IF those swingers who committed, hear, see, and read the transcripts and they say what was promised by the committee members and IF this process comes across as transparent with some rights provided to Trump's attorneys.

But If I know Pelosi, she will make damn sure she keeps her bargain and those more queasy members will keep theirs. This is now out of the deposition/ investigation phase and entering the open phase.

But I was a bit surprised she included the language 'due process' in her letter. That will come back to haunt here

Why? the founding fathers wrote this into the the constitution for a reason.

The founding fathers also wrote into the constitution you had to be a male property owner to vote. Those guys knew what they were doing.

I think full, open hearings will expose the weakness of the case against Trump. "He bad guy" ain't gonna cut it in a public forum.

Irrelevant, and he's already admitted, several times, in public and on the air, to having committed serious crimes and there is plenty of testimony corroborating that.

This is going to be quite a painful time for twump sycophants and I, for one, am really going to enjoy that.

Well, if that is what happened. She does seem to be much more capable about things like that than many. It could very well be that the evidence they have behind close door is, well , overwhelming.
Yes, the bolded is the most likely scenario. The initial inquiry gave Pelosi and her party members enough to believe they can politically improve their lot be impeaching. No way would she put her vulnerable caucus members through this current vote, unless she was confident in two things:

1] That her vulnerable party members will indeed follow through with an actual impeachment vote when the time comes.

2] That her & her party's political position will improve with the impeachment process.
(i.e., she believes she can move the country's opinion more towards impeachment)

This is a good thing...

1. No more hiding and leaking testimony. We get to see it all.

2. Republican committee members can subpoena and get testimony from people they choose.

3. House Dems will be on record with their vote. (The only other vote that'll be more damaging to a slew of them is the vote for Articles of Impeachment...if there ever is one.)

The way I see it, this change in Nancy's position is due to a couple factors...

1. The increasing threat to her anti-Trump campaign (witch hunt) posed by the DOJ investigations into the corrupt Obama administration.

2. Trump's increasing successes. (Especially in the Middle East.)

You do know any subpoenas are subject to a majority vote in committee so you can forget asking for irrelevant witnesses like Biden.

Even when they don't, there is always the accusation from rich right-wing folk who vote against the poor and middle class. It's like the guy who takes 11 out of the 12 cookies, and says to the guy who has just 1 , hey, watch out for that guy, he's after your cookie.

LOL! Schiff is a former federal prosecutor. He's quite familiar with the rules of evidence, due process, etc...

That's an odd thing to try and lie about.

Trump Fan Nation always lies about Schiff. They are terrified of him.

They get their "legal rules and principles" from the reality TV game show host occupying the Oval Office today. He gets them from Hannity and Penthouse Magazine.

That is a very real possibility. I guess we will know for sure when we see what is actually brought up for a vote.

Agreed. There is no better vote counter than Pelosi, and no better tactician & strategist. She bides her time, and picks her battles well. In that, she is the polar opposite of trump. And it shows. During the few times she chose to fight, she pretty much cleaned the floor with Trump. And from that, I'm sure she's earned the full trust & support of her caucus.

She is an extremely dangerous foe. If Trump's smart, he won't underestimate her.

But I was a bit surprised she included the language 'due process' in her letter. That will come back to haunt here
That jumped right-out at me too! WTH was that about?

The only thing I can think is she's playing on words, like she did with the impeachment "inquiry" sans a vote. She might be pre-preemptively heading-off Trump's claim of needing "due process", where she sets her rules and calls them "due process". Obviously, there's no judicial due process in impeachment.

The only people trying to keep it behind closed doors is the dopey left.

So why haven't any Republicans -and there are 40 of them with full access to all of the testimony and documents - leaked anything positive? Not a single one of them has. None of them are running to the cameras saying "They have nothing on Trump". Not one of them, besides Lindsey Graham who has no access to anything.

Where is Devin Nunes? He used to love the cameras. He used to love to cover for Trump. Yet he's been silent. I wonder why that is.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's wrong about GOP subpoena power.

So.pelosi decided to expose that she has nothing on trump right after a court said she had no requirement to do so?

Now why would she do that?

Don't you think it's more likely that what they already have is more than enough ammunition to take trump down? That she is responding to delays by flipping on the supercharger?

She absolutely has the votes to impeach, and she absolutely knows that. I suspect she has some Republican votes as well, and she also knows that.

The Senate will never vote to remove him, even after they host his "trial". But the House will absolutely impeach him, as they should. That's what the Founders envisioned when they wrote the Constitution and addressed the very important impeachment process.
