The funny thing is that isn't a joke.

    3. Although I would be honored to vote for President Trump again, I acknowledge that he has no sense of humor and is very thin-skinned.

    4. I believe, however, that General Mattis was wrong to (even humorously) poke fun at the President because (a) he was the Defense Secretary and owed that position to the person who appointed him and (b) even retired military should not be ridiculing the Commander-in-Chief.

    5. I would not be surprised if General Mattis one day runs for president. Maybe that was why he spoke out.
As a rule, military and retired military are a-political and do not criticize a sitting president. That makes it noteworthy when they do.

But apparently you have no problem with the Commander-in-Chief slandering a highly decorated combat commander. THAT is why Mattis spoke out. Mattis just gave it back to Trump.

Respect is a two-way street except in the Trump White House.

As a rule, sitting presidents don't denigrate their former secretary of defense. Mattis was RESPONDING, not attacking. Mattis did not start this little tet-a-tet.

Just once I would love to hear a Trumpster say Trump was out of line. I won't be holding my breath.

That is absolutely true. Its a bit outrageous for Trumpster's to call out people for not showing respect for the Presidency when Trump shows no respect to the presidency nor anyone not named Trump. The tenor is established by the leader.

In my previous post, I wanted to make different point about listening when your generals are saying political things, as its not their nature.

I think it's important to respect the office of the president, however, if a person uses that office as a pulpit to offer up insults to former personnel, then that respect for the individual holding the office is lost. Trump doesn't get to hide behind the respect for the office to lob insults and not get responses in kind.

Look, you admit it. Help me understand how you acknowledge one of the worst qualities of a leader (thin-skinned) let alone a president and " would be honored to vote for him again" because I'm baffled. Sure we could argue his avarice, zero integrity, sucking up to Putin, ****ty work ethic are worse but you don't admit those. Lets jut work on the ones you admit.
