Were they on the USA side of the river? There should be a law, or whatever, that says that if you can be in Canada legally, you can simply come into the USA, and vise-versa.
There is no reason to even have a border, at least not one that we police. If we look at the maps there are no walls, few signs, etc. One can walk down a random road or across a park and go from one Canada to the USA without anything resembling a border... because we don't need one. This British family should have just been able to cruise on into America... or if we want to police it, just send say, 'turn around and we will follow you back to the border".
Nessie.
They were all allegedly drunk and crossed the border. We do have that agreement with the U.K. All you need is a passport. Didn’t help this family. We don’t know why they were grabbed and detained rather than turned around.
If Sean Connery says they're also in Canada, you better believe him.
That old relic? I loved that in Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Last Crusade... Sean played Ford's father even though he is only something like 10 years older than him.

He's 007 goddamn it.
Mothman?
The second best one at that...
I prefer Roger Moore.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...onnors-british-family-ice-vacation-detention/ This is a very disturbing incident and is exactly what makes me ashamed to call myself an American. I get it though, this is the type of stuff that gives all of the authoritarian hard ass douche-bags hard on's.
It is East Coast Forests... pretty sure. Appalachian Mountain Ranges somewhere? I also think there is a movie about it.
EDIT: Just looked it up. Looks like Point Pleasant, West Virginia. I was pretty close.
U.S. authorities disputed the family’s version of events, saying they were spotted via video surveillance “slowly and deliberately driving through a ditch onto Boundary Road in Lynden, Washington” between parallel roadways on the U.S. and Canadian sides. The roads are not connected by cross streets, and the only legal way to traverse between the countries is at staffed border stations throughout the region.

In a statement, CBP said U.S. agents also determined that two of the family members had applied for travel authorization to visit the United States and were denied. A senior CBP official said the Connorses applied for visa waivers last year, and it was not immediately clear why they were rejected. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the case, said the family — four adults and three small children — were in possession of $16,000 in cash at the time of their arrest.
“Attempts were made to return the individuals to Canada, however, Canada refused to allow their return and two attempts to contact the United Kingdom consulate were unsuccessful,”
They were all allegedly drunk and floated over the border. We do have that agreement with the U.K. All you need is a passport. Didn’t help this family. We don’t know why they were grabbed and detained rather than turned around.

Geez, they put a 3 month old baby in a cold cell for almost a week trying to sort out the fact that they took a wrong turn and people can still somehow defend that in any way?
Goodness, no wonder the government is the way it is. They shouldn't have turned left, **** them <--- basically.
This post here, is what displays the same kind of ignorance that the left with always be able and willing to prey upon.
Play stupid game, win stupid prizes. Good job CBP.
I agree that, if this incident is all factual as I read about it from a half dozen sources or more, a very disturbing story to say the least.
I have not been able, as of yesterday morning, to find recounts of the incident that confirm whether it was CBP that intercepted them or some local police authority.
Frankly in what I have read the story has believable elements that would make it seem 100% genuine but it also had holes in it that make it seem suspect.
You have to cross at marked border crossing. Not intentionally avoid them. They stated why they have been detained. CBP believes they intentionally crossed. CBP tried to return them. Canada refused. It’s in the article.
I think that’s a mischaracterization on the part of the anonymous CPD employee. They aren’t Canadian nationals so why would Canada bail them out of CPD custody?
