There was nothing in that article that says that US citizens don't want to take those oil related jobs. In fact, everyone who was quoted appeared to prefer to hire non-US citizens.
This article is nothing more than those employers whining because ICE is finally doing their jobs and enforcing the law. I have no sympathy for them.
They have two solutions:
1. If they insist on hiring non-US citizens, then they need to lobby Congress to reform the laws to make it more efficient for them to get work permits for non-US citizens.
2. Hire US citizens.
Bingo. Work on an oil rig pays some of the highest wages that a blue collar worker can earn. It's one of the last jobs of its kind that pays enough to enable a hard working American without a degree to support a family. Little wonder then why an oil rig owner would want to hire immigrants- they're tough enough to do the work, and will work for less pay than Americans.
