Trump releases $50 million to protect ethnic and religious minorities in Syria

Driving out the terrorist PKK so the 3.6 million people who used to live in that area can return home is probably chaotic, but it is necessary. There are almost 7 million refugees outside of Syria and another 6 million displaced inside of Syria. 13 million people would like to go home. This is a start to fixing the massive problem caused by the inept foreign policy of Obama and his Secretary of State. More importantly, it is our NATO ally standing up against terrorists who want to spread the same chaos into their land.

You do realize that the areas Turkey have set up this safety zone have been Kurd areas prior to the conflict? Those refugees you're referring to are not just from those areas so this has nothing to do with Turkey wanting to relocate all of those refugees. These "terrorists" are the same ones who have been fighting the other batch of terrorists we were in favor of removing. As I've stated in other posts on this subject, the question of what US policy is regarding the region is one that should be open for debate, but consideration should be made as to what happens when a country with global reach cedes its influence to other countries looking to increase theirs.

It has everything to do with Turkey wanting to relocate 3.6 million refugees back into their home country. The chicken hawks in Europe are outraged Turkey would want to send them there and outraged they want to send them home. They have ceded and authority whatsoever on the issue, especially considering the PKK are branded a terrorist organization by the UK and the EU in addition to the US. The enemy of our enemy does not make them our friend but for a fleeting moment. The US, however, is standing as it can with an ally it has had in NATO for 60 years. That is not ceding anything. It is honoring a long-held commitment.

more balderdash from one of our most ignorant.

Advocating the placement of 3.6 million into a narrow corridor that most of them haven't even come from (not to mention displacing those in the process that have lived there for generations) just has to be the newest demonstration of argument from utter stupidity.

Demonstrating yet again (as you demonstrate virtually wherever you enter here) that

YOU

KNOW

NOTHING

This can be repeated just as often as you repeat your inane "assessment" and ignoring how often your fallacies are pointed out won't help you.

Too little, too late.

Better than nothing, but as I can see by reading through this thread's responses, Trump is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't.
Let's face it, some will not give him credit for anything he does.

Get real. Trump opened the flood gates on the Kurds. His horrifically stupid order to withdraw US troops has caused complete chaos, death, and destruction. Trump's profound ignorance has shocked the nation once again. Who benefits? Putin, Erdogan, and Assad.

Trump's yet to be released 50 million is an attempt to mitigate the international embarrassment his ****-up has caused ... Donald Trump, who else?

Syria is up for grabs, chaos reigns. Tens of thousands of people are fleeing Syria. Over one hundred thousand people have been and will be displaced. Who in Syria will distribute the 50 million? How will it be distributed and used? People are trying to survive and get the hell out of a growing **** storm!

Ironically, Trump's greenlight to Erdogan caused the murder of Hervin Khalaf, secretary general of the Future Syria Party. Turkish backed forces ambushed her car, killed her driver, captured Khalaf, tortured her and then killed her. The Future Syria Party is an organization working for democracy in Syria by attempting to bring Arabs, Kurds, and Christians together to establish peace and to rid Syria of Assad.

Because of Trump's betrayal of the Kurds Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces - you know, the people who were allied with the United States - have entered an agreement with the Syrian government (Assad) - who is backed by Russian and Iran, to fight the Turkish forces.

But, yeah, Trump allocated and announced 50 million for Syria. So all of the above and more is cool.

I never wrote or even implied the above.
In fact, last week I wrote I wish he hadn't pulled out so abruptly, leaving the Kurds high and dry.

Why don't you get your facts straight?

And what, by the beard of the prophet, does 50 mill buy these days anyway?

Even bringing that up as an excuse for a thread is as frantic as it is stupid.

No, it does not because most of those refugees didn't originate from that area.

Ok, here's some credit. djt turned America's back on allies that fought in front of us in our effort to defeat ISIS. Now we're done with them (in the great and unmatched wisdom of djt). So America is going to give them some money that won't amount to beans in terms of their survival. Wohoo, what leadership. You do know by the way that the Kurds were still guarding thousands of ISIS fighters and sympathizers (I mean they were until they had to fight the Turks. What could go wrong?

Fair's fair and credit where it's due
At this point, and after rethinking the fate of the Kurds, I'd rather Trump rethink his strategy and drop the hammer on Turkish forces both militarily and economically.

Oh geeze... read the thread and stop assuming that you have the ability to articulate my viewpoint on the Kurds.

That little fact won't get into the way of his constant flow of garbage.

I've been pointing it out to him for days now and he still keeps repeating his rubbish of the 3.6 million being returned "to their home".

Which, seeing how Erdogan has no control over all of Syria, can't be done anyway.

Opinionated blather taking precedence over informed assessment seems to the rage these days, with the narcissistic desire of seeing oneself in print overruling any intelligent consideration.

Muscle up t, you said djt never gets credit, I gave him credit for what he did. I made no statement about your viewpoint. I thought liberals were the snowflakes.

And you guys think this will do anything to help the Kurds? Wow, I mean... wow.

And democrats claim Trump does not care for Christians under persecution around the world. Wow.... Exceptionally BIG WOW!

There just tribes. Let them kill them selves.

Its been going on for centuries.

Trump is right. Let them kill one another. Who gives a fck.

Horse ****. There's no honor in what Trump has done. Betraying allies, stabbing them in the back, causing the release of hundreds if not thousands of ISIS prisoners, forcing our former allies, the Kurds, to enter an agreement with Asaad's government to fight the Turks along with tacit assistance from a more than willing Russia and Iran are in no way honorable. No way. It is a monumental presidential size blunder that will most likely have far-reaching repercussions.

Shortsighted. The Kurds did the bulk of the dirty work for us against ISIS. Next time the US needs someone to do that kind of dirty work, good luck.
