I didn't know if this belongs in MSM or non-MSM, so I'm playing it safe.

[h=1]Top Military Officers Unload on Trump[/h]Military officers are sworn to serve whomever voters send to the White House. Cognizant of the special authority they hold, high-level officers epitomize respect for the chain of command, and are extremely reticent about criticizing their civilian overseers. That those I spoke with made an exception in Trump’s case is telling, and much of what they told me is deeply disturbing. In 20 years of writing about the military, I have never heard officers in high positions express such alarm about a president. Trump’s pronouncements and orders have already risked catastrophic and unnecessary wars in the Middle East and Asia, and have created severe problems for field commanders engaged in combat operations. Frequently caught unawares by Trump’s statements, senior military officers have scrambled, in their aftermath, to steer the country away from tragedy. How many times can they successfully do that before faltering?
...

Our modern officer corps are trained to have sophistication and intelligence. In case you're wondering, they despise Trump, who has neither.

The article is a good read.

The difference between officers and enlisted is exactly why Trump won.

I have no military experience, but I was fascinated by that article. Especially the 5 leadership points.

This was interesting too:

Such rudderless captaincy creates the headlines Trump craves. He revels when his tweets take off. (“Boom!” he says. “Like a rocket!”) Out in the field, where combat is more than wordplay, his tweets have consequences. He is not a president who thinks through consequences—and this, the generals stressed, is not the way serious nations behave.

Yup. Exactly.

But his drooling supporters will still drool and still support him. Trump before country, every time.

What generaps are we talking about?

Because idiot America has been brainwashed to distrust expertise and education. You are correct.

Meh, just sour grapes on their part.
I am hearing from many people that Trump knows more than them anyway.

Yet they, for the most part, helped to vote him in office. The military generally votes Republican.

Just another instance of people voting against their best interests.

That's what is said but it's shown that officers vote Republican while the lower ranks vote Democratic. I'd like to hear retired generals and admirals publicly voice their opinion at election time.

Trump knows more about ices that the generals -- Italian ices, specifically.

It's more than that, officers know seditious behavior when they see it. They have been trained to uphold our Constitution and national security.

There is one in particular I would like to hear from; he has said when the time is right, he will speak; no time like the present!

What generaps are we talking about?

The ones, that if Trump had his way would be sacked and replaced by privates who kiss ass sweetly, ass kissing matters so much more to Trump than competency.

That right. Enlisted are idiots. Officers are educated experts.

You just proved my point.

Enlighten us on the sedition detection and Constitution training they get.

The article is a good read.

I have the snail mail subscription to The Atlantic, and will read the article in full when it arrives.

Glancing at the link, it appears to be largely based, as it must be, on the Global War On Terror, which is problematical. I completely agree Trump is a poor leader, but a deeper understanding shows that like the AUMF that brought it, the GWOT is a fraud on the American people.

So at first read, it appears this piece is merely an apology for the fraud, subtle propaganda favoring the military industrial complex and our perpetual military aggression wars.

So, what's new?!?

Enlighten us on the sedition detection and Constitution training they get.

Your post.

It's a we know it when we see it kind of thingy.

Lesson #1 occurred when Trump took his oath to the Constitution and he wiped his ass with it in a same day turnaround. Since then the Putin-Trump Rowers have been daily handing him copies of it. Putin rejoices while Trump endorses Putin over US intelligence services.

Trump held an unannounced meeting in the oval in early 2017 with only the Russian foreign minister and Russian ambassador and Russian media so he could further abuse his office and the Constitution by handing over classified information to the Russians. The only way Americans found out was via Russian media because there wasn't an American in the oval throughout. There wasn't one American present in the oval at the time. Not a one.

Not to worry. If even Slimy Lindsey is against it, it must be bad.

I would like to see that study, if you have it.

Lower ranks tend to also be youthful; who are widely believed to lean Democrat. I see the possibility of your point being correct even without seeing the study...

Another war mongering Democrat's message.

The Kurds of Syria are allies of Russia and Assad. The 2 million Syrian refugees in Turkey can not return because the Kurds will kill them as part of their ongoing ethnic cleansing campaign.

To no surprise, the military and all of the military industrial complex wants to expand all wars in the ME so we are fighting for and against everyone, being killed and killing everyone - now furiously demanding we join with the Russians, Assad, Iran and the ethnic cleansing insurgent Kurds against Turkey and the Syrian refugees.

Which do those Democrats and warmongers-for-profit want? Carpet bombing the Syrian refugee camps to eliminate them - or bringing all 2 million to the USA to be put on welfare and given permits to take American jobs?

How many of our troops and equipment do the Democrats and other warmongers-for-profit want to provide for the benefit of Putin, Assad, Iran and insurgent Kurds?

Please give a number of how many Americans you would have die for this and how many more people do you want our troops to kill for Putin, Assad, Iran and Kurdish terrorists?

It is why we have civilian control of the military. Trump is doing what he said he would do re: the military.
