Democratic senators quietly hope Biden wins over rivals

The Northeastern progressive duo of Sanders/Warren actually has more support together than Biden, 35% to 29%. Right now they're dividing the progressive vote. Biden leads, but is more of a moderate, center left ideological and has a history of working across the aisle to get things done. This, I don't think the Democrats will go for. Outside of Biden and Klobuchar, maybe Gabbard, all those running are basically far left progressive.

As the progressives drop out their support will go to Warren and or Sanders. Biden only hope is Warren and Sanders continue to divide the Northeastern progressive vote. Biden's strength is among the older folks and blacks. Not the white liberal/progressive crowd.

Massachusetts has a Republican governor who would be the one appointing Warren's replacement.....

I think this is ultimately the story of 2016 that many don't get. I believe it was Wisconsin that Trump won but actually recieved fewer votes than Romney who was crushed by Obama which means there were a huge number of Democrats that stayed home.

I doubt that is going to be the case this time.

Yea odd no? The same state where "lost votes" were found during an election after the GOP candidate had lost...and those votes changed the result to a win.

They have to have a special election with the seat occupied by a governor appointed Senator in the interim. They have an odd way of doing it because they were trying to block Mitt Romney from replacing John Kerry had he won the Presidency.

What else you got besides your tired old "Pocahontas" routine? Nothing, that's what. Of course you overlook the fact that Trump is under investigation for a myriad of federal offenses. So, "oh wow, 'Pocahontas' isn't serving your cause in the least.

That's why Biden leads -- because he appeals to voters in those three states that Trump narrowly won. Biden also is widely popular with African Americans, who sat out the 2016 general election.

What policy positions do these "extreme" candidates hold that is so unelectable? Their policy ideas are definitely bold, and you can make some substantive arguments against them. But they aren’t crazy. By contrast, the ideas of Tea Party Republicans are crazy; in fact, Warren and Sanders' policy positions are a lot more sensible than those of the Republican mainstream, let alone the GOP’s more radical members.

Let's compare Warren to Tea Party favorite Dave Brat, who unseated Eric Cantor, consider this: Brat favors a constitutional amendment forcing a balanced budget every year, which 96% of economists think is a really bad idea.

So, about Warren’s positions: Medicare for all is a deliberately ambiguous phrase, but the eventual law probably wouldn’t mean pushing everyone into a single-payer system. Instead, it would mean allowing individuals and employers to buy into Medicare – basically a big public option. That’s really not radical at all, because every advanced country except America has some form of guaranteed health insurance; decades of experience show that these systems are workable; and they all have lower costs than we do. Calling for us to do what everyone else has managed to do is perfectly reasonable -- not radical.

The governor of Massachusetts is a moderate Republican, and Senator Warren is not up for reelection until 2024. He would nominate a temporary replacement until a special election filled that replacement's seat.

I'm not predicting Biden will win the primaries. I think Warren will. Biden is the front-runner, but he is fragile. Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg and Michael Bennet are running as the moderates but Biden dominates in that area.

Warren leads progressive populist, Bernie Sanders, because she has self-awareness, while he doesn't.

If Warren takes Iowa and New Hampshire Biden can still hold on, but the California primary had been moved up to March 3, Super Tuesday. If Warren dominates most of the liberal states that day, it's over. But we will have to see how it plays out.

For those who aren't in on the joke, the reason for this is Joe Biden is an empty intellectual vessel and the democrats want to use his lack of awareness to advance an agenda they could never advance in public. The will lift his hand up to sign what the put in front of him, and he will sign it. For all anyone knows, he may think he is signing a birthday card.
 
Biden is likely the most electable of the current DNC field, he would also make for a great puppet for DNC party heads to pull the strings behind a Biden presidency.
 
He's sane compared to the others. In another time he may have challenged for the presidency but now he's hopelessly senile and cant get out of his own way.

For someone you say is senile, he knows that you can’t stop hurricanes with nuclear weapons; windmills don’t cause cancer; and that China doesn’t pay our tariffs, just to name a few things that Trump doesn’t know.

Yet, Trump is willing to have the Ukraine trump up charges to stop him.
