An explosion occurred in the Novosibirsk Center for Virology "Vector"

Wow, that is a really niche recall.

I tried rewatching that a few years ago, and I hate to say, it didn't age well.

The soundtrack was amazing, though. W.G. “Snuffy” Walden. Can’t go wrong with him.

Originally came from the T.S. Eliot poem, “The Hollow Men.”

I'm not a poet and never will be, so I've only ever been familiar with the opening scene from The Stand.

I thought it was Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper.

I'm literally wondering if I should go in for a smallpox vaccination. I have no goddamn idea if I'm still immune or not. I mean, the only time I'd ever have to think of such a thing is in the highly unlikely event that a super top secret military laboratory containing smallpox blew up or something.

Generally smallpox vax is good for about 5 years.....I have had it 3 times in my life.

Assuming it isn't an engineered or mutated strain.

Better safe than sorry, but I think we are fine until Big Pharma starts ads running about this new med they have for a disease you don’t even have - yet.

Well I know what I'm doing this week.

That’s the first place I saw it, too, honestly, but found it later it wasn’t penned by King.

And can I just say, 25 years later and I still hate the casting in that movie. You know how you have a well-loved book, and you can see the characters in your head? This couldn’t have been farther off.

I knew it was written by T.S. Elliot; I just didn't care because I'll never care about poetry. But poet or not, I can't ignore that those lines are cool.

There was a lot wrong with the tv series. It's ripe for an HBO or Netflix remake if you ask me.

Shut...up.

Are you serious?

Just looked it up. Tv series in CBS All Access.

Alexander Skaarsgard as Flagg
Whoopie Goldberg as Mother Abigail
James Marsden as Stu
Amber Heard as Nadine

Few others I don’t recognize

For those unfamiliar with Skarsgard, he is the next ex-Mrs. Superfly. I’m not normally a fan of blondes, but for him, I will make an exception.

My spidey senses tell me it’s gonna suck.

It looks like the blast/fire was in a construction area, so it IS a good chance that the more .. dangerous biological components are properly safe guarded

I’ve heard one is in the makes.

Someone I used to play volley ball with was an illustrator for the Stand. There was a special, leather bound edition of 26 copies of the stand that were made of that version, and he got one of those copies.. (which he gave to another person I know)

Here is a sample of the art he did for that book
