White House Cancels Trump’s Visit to Denmark After Greenland Flap

And yet you believe the Greenland nonsense.....

My guess is that he wanted to play golf in Denmark and could not find a place to host him and his thugs. So he had to find an excuse not to go there and made this **** up.

Sent from my Honor 8X using Tapatalk

The more likely reason is Trump wouldn't be welcomed during his visit and Obama is set to visit in a few weeks and the contrast would be embarrassing to the Moron in Chief.

What makes you think it's a dumb idea?

I've heard that Greenland has a lot of natural resources. It's never a dumb idea to try to get some control over that kind of thing. At the very least, it makes money...raises the GDP.

There's a small problem that Greenland isn't for sale. That's what makes it a dumb as **** idea.

He's mentally retarded because he actually thought this stood a snowball's chance in hell that it was the ONLY thing he wanted to meet an ally for.

FYI, this isn't the only thing he's done that marks him an incompetent president. Instead this is just a long list of stupid **** he's done.

Seeing as he didn't go. Your premise is already rendered invalid.

Not to mention that the US has bought territory before, and the benefits could be weighed rather well for Trump if this came through. It was a rather sound judgment to just enquire about it.

Uncouth and vulgar, yes. But incompetent, not so much as you think.

He didn't make an offer. And it's an absurd notion that in 2019 Denmark should entertain offers by the U.S. to buy up part of its territory, or that POTUS would condition a visit on doing so. It's insulting to the host nation, and embarrassing for the United States to demand such fealty before POTUS agreeing to meet with leaders of that country.

We're seriously in cult territory here. Whatever Trump does is defended by the members of the cult because Trump did it, and is therefore correct. That's the end of analysis. Amazing and frightening to watch this play out in real time.

Okay, I'll bite.

Where did the US demand any such fealty?

Also, the US has bought territory before, and like this time. It was going to be done so for recognizably good reasons.

Also, if all you can do as a point of demeaning someone, is call them members of a cult. You're still revealing that you are a larger part of he problem.

It would be my suggestion that some of you actually try to form a dialogue and stop acting like damn children.

Incompetent? He offered to buy a friggin' country, and made the offer to the wrong country. I mean, who the hell thinks you can buy a country? Yeah, he's incompetent. I'll give him this, though- his support base is all saying, "Hell yeah! They ought to sell us that country!"

You do realize that you're just revealing how small of person you are, each time you say something like that, correct?

He made an offer, I was respectfully dismissed and he did not follow through with it.

If all you have to say, is calling him mentally retarded, for doing something that was actually pretty sound of judgment.

Then you're the issue here, and not Trump.

Do you still think the offer was respectfully dismissed? I ask because of course now Trump is saying it was nastily dismissed and many of the rightwingers on this forum have followed Trump's lead on this.

Strange, can you cite where he made the offer to the wrong country?

This wouldn't be the first time, as I've already stated. That the US has bought foreign land.

I'm not actually a right winger, so my perspective wouldn't be the same in that regard.

From what I've seen, the response was sent plainly, and then the trip was called off.

I don't care for people chewing endlessly on the semantics.

Yeah, that's how I see it. But Trump created a new news story by saying the prime minister was nasty about it. So naturally many here feel compelled to take that point of view also.

If he wanted to buy Canada would he make the offer to England because Canada was part of the Kingdom?
**** man, what year is this?
Is this the revival of American imperialism?

You mind citing it, I haven't seen that story.

I've heard that he said "I didn't know she was nasty" but that may be unrelated.

If you don’t agree with trump calling any woman ‘nasty’, you’re disloyal to America.

This is why one should never ask for citations, or proof from anyone on the left.

If you don’t agree with trump calling any woman ‘nasty’, you’re disloyal to America.

If you're an atni-trumper, then you're a sex offender.

See, it's very easy to play by such easily abused rules.

I was merely asking for Amelia to cite the story, so that I can verify. Nothing more.

The story in which that I heard him saying "I didn't know she was nasty" was possibly about him hearing what the prime minister said about him, and from what the people reporting told him. It turned out she said some possibly, unladylike things.

Hence why I asked for verification.

The USA 🇺🇸 became the confederate states of America on 1.20.2017.

To be honest, I’d take you as President right now, and I’m quite sure you know why.

For comparison, here is what she said:

“Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is not Danish. Greenland belongs to Greenland. I strongly hope that this is not meant seriously,” Frederiksen told newspaper Sermitsiaq.

“It’s an absurd discussion, and [Greenland Premier] Kim Kielsen has of course made it clear that Greenland is not for sale. That’s where the conversation ends,"

Danish PM: Trump’s interest in buying Greenland is ‘absurd’ – POLITICO

... which was quite a reasonable response to the way the subject was introduced to her. If a legitimate, respectful offer was being made it should have gone through proper channels. Instead it came out as rumors and confusion about whether Trump was joking or was really interested in the subject, and she was asked to address the rumors.

In his tweet canceling the visit, he thanked her for "being so direct".

The next day, after he got a lot of negative press for the cancellation, he called her direct comments nasty.

Would it be possible at this point, I'd not want to be president, and I know that I would not be a popular one.

No, it validated my premise since he didn't go. You having trouble with reading comprehension? I said that it was stupid BECAUSE that was the only thing he wanted to meet an ally for.

Trump is the most incompetent and lying president we have ever had.

I'm tired of people normalizing bat**** crazy behavior by POTUS. In 2019, we don't just go out and buy up other countries. Furthermore, if we actually did want to buy Greenland, the bat**** crazy way used by incompetent f'ing morons is to float the offer publicly, through Tweet or the press. Of course that is how Trump approached this, which means he's an incompetent moron, or this is just idiocy, trolling, BS to keep the rubes occupied for a while. But whatever the case, the way this was handled was objectively, positively "ABSURD" and there is no reality in which it's normal or acceptable.

So, yeah, the other side called it absurd because it's clearly absurd, and then POTUS cancels a state visit over it. That's just nuts.

If you want to defend it, have at it, but it's only because it's Trump and Trump can't do any wrong. There's no possible way for you to defend this episode on the merits.

You have to be kidding me. If he had sound judgment and wanted to 'enquire' about it, there are 100 ways or so to do that in private, to see if there is interest, if there is interest to work out the details, figure out how to publicly reveal the offer, how Greenland would get it approved, how to get voters on board. For a government not completely incompetent, ALL OF THAT would take place well before the interest was revealed in the press.

Trump approached it like buying a building in Queens. It's not a building in Queens, it's a COUNTRY of 250 million acres, with a population of about 60,000 people.

So, yeah, if Trump wanted to guarantee we'd never buy Greenland and that in the process we'd piss off an ally, he would do just exactly what he did do which is handle it like an ignorant drunk at the end of your local bar. That's as incompetent as it gets.

Yes, wanting to meet someone personally for discussing such a momentous occasion, is incompetent.

I think you're just pointing out how **** of a businessman you'd be, were you given the chance.
