His statement was stupid, People need to learn to keep their mouth shut until they understand basic concepts of what they are saying. There are many topics that I would not dare to make a public statement about because I only know enough to make a fool out of myself.

What is your education and/or degrees? I studied mechanical engineering, industrial design, and philosophy.

I a double majored in History and Geography with a minor in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Education.

His statement was stupid, People need to learn to keep their mouth shut until they understand basic concepts of what they are saying. There are many topics that I would not dare to make a public statement about because I only know enough to make a fool out of myself.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it... such is subjectivity. What he said was pretty common sense though... wait until the child is older and can understand concepts like gender. Jr. High or better yet, High School is more appropriate.

There have been quite a few news stories of very young children living in households where one or more parent is gender non-conforming, and (miraculously) the child decides they are gender non-confirming too. There was one interview I saw, where the trans dad asks the child, "do you like quiet girl activities or running around and tackling boy's activities". And that's on TV in front of an audience... What's been told the kid when no cameras are around.

I worry the mental health impact of these kids later on in life. I have seen anecdotal evidence that it does not turn out well when they get older.

I never felt the need to graduate. I don't like ceremonies. I learned what I wanted to or needed to to get a job.

Forcing the child to put their gender identity issues on hold until they are older results in a poorer quality of life and mental health issues that often take a lifetime to overcome. This problem is not to be ignored until you or others are more comfortable. The sex hormones and surgery don't happen until mid to late teens.

A child claiming that they are a fairy is different from a child saying they are they, not a girl if they were born biologically female or boy if they were born biologically male.

This decision is not made by the parents. If the parents are intelligent they have the child seen by a psychologist who is educated and experienced in pediatric gender identity. It is a team of doctors that make that decision after many hours of testing and talking with the child and the parents about the child's behavior.

Many states have laws that prevent a parent from citing their religious beliefs as a reason to deny care for a child. Reparative therapy for children and adults is banned in many states. You cannot pray it away and ignoring it only makes it worse.

Graduating with degrees is not about ceremonies... it is about money due to having higher qualifications.

The child is well aware of their biological identity, but their psychological gender identity is incongruent with their biological body. The gender of the mind cannot be changed so the body is realigned, as mich as medically possible to match their psychological gender identity.

The professionals say that it is because deeper problems such as depression, anxiety addictions and even PTSD occur when it is ignored. If you want your child to survive and grow up healthy and happy you don't ignore it and hope that it goes away.
How would you feel if you knew that you were a boy but when you looked in the mirror you say a girl? many people cannot understand it because they cannot comprehend that it is even possible.

I learned over time what I was due to being educated and learning what words actually mean. Boy and girl were meaningless to me as a young child.

There was a documentary I saw quite a while ago. Basically, a young boy had a slightly older sister. The sister dressed him up in a dress and the grandma (parents were not around) gave him lots of attention - she thought he was adorable. The boy started dressing like that more often because of the positive attention. He decided he was trans and only dressed as a girl. Finally, he got older, realized he was a man, stopped talking to the grandparent and suffers anxiety and depression since.

In other words.. Is it really the kid's decision, or are kids just stupid sponges and are reacting to the stupidity around them?

As mentioned in the op, the trans dad that kept asking the "trans daughter" on TV... "Do you like doing quiet girly activities" or "jumping around being crazy and tackling everybody". He's leading that poor kid to a certain outcome.

You read about celeb yo-yos declaring they are raising their kid as gender neutral or some ****. Their kid is going to be so mentally ****ed up, the kid will be spending their teens in shrink's offices. And then we have these "socially tolerant" Liberal parents who will be doing the same damn thing (or worse) because it's "trendy" and "the right thing to do".
