Megan Rapinoe Digs In After Trump Criticism: "I stand by the remarks"

If one doesn't follow soccer (and most of us don't) why is it obvious she is gay? Is it because she has short hair-well so does my wife-and she's not gay. Is it because she is athletic-well so is Caroline Wozniacki and she is not gay. Is it because she is ripped-well so is Serena Williams and she is not gay. Seems like your goal was to play the homophobia card when none was called for

"The way she wears her hair", that's really demonstrative of where your mind is. Homophobes always put gays or lesbians in a little box with a description on it as to what makes them gay or lesbian in your eyes. Megan Rapinoe came out publicly as gay in 2012! That's how I know she's gay, not by her haircut.

The woman that Trump raped in the 1990's, E. Jean Carroll has very short hair too, and she's not gay.

And a complete embarrassment to American and international sports in general. She has made women’s soccer all about her, and in a negative way. I doubt anyone in the democrat clown show wants to share a stage with her.

She stands for freedom and equality. It is us who should be embarrassed, for the leader who does not stand for these things.

She's a great soccer player. She shredded France's vaunted defenders today. But the time she spent perfecting her headers and corner kicks, deprived of time to learn stuff other than soccer. It is common with elite athletes in team sports. So we can laud her brilliant play while laughing at her views.

Laughable views such as equality?

You seem to think most or many posters follow women's soccer-I do not. So what would lead us to believe she is gay? I couldn't give a rat's ass if she is gay or not.I realize lots of women in team sports are gay-and tennis and golf has a higher percentage of lesbians than there are in the general population. Again, I couldn't care less, but I get tired of leftwing gay rights advocates -who claim anyone who dare says anything negative about a gay-whether they know the person is gay or not-must be "homophobic".

Its as stupid as claiming that anyone who didn't like Obama's policies were "racists"

And claiming Trump is a bigger threat to that , then say some of the clowns who debated last night, is BS.

Trump could invite every member of the US women's soccer team 'cept Rapinoe. I'm sure she wouldn't mind.

At the very most, Trump should do no more than congratulate them should they win, and condolences if they lose.

"Dignity" is all the LGBTQ community wants, it's what we all want. It's her right to support Colin Kaepernick and too ****ing bad if you or your homophobic, racist president doesn't like it.

Doesn't look like it's working so much.

Well, the US soared to victory on Rapinoe's two goals against the OTHER best women's team in the world - France - despite a wicked brilliant header from Renard 81 minutes in.

But Rapinoe's still a poor sport with bad judgment who shouldn't have put her team through this distracting BS.

Tuesday's title match against England should be a walk over for the US.

Who in Hades cares whether that individual goes to the White House or not?

As usual, the President has dignified someone who should be ignored.

How much soccer life does Rapinoe have left in her? I don't know anything about her.

What amazes me is how these very talented sports figures limit their commercial value after they retire, by taking stands that turn off huge numbers of people who might respond to whatever she tries to sell.

If I'm the VP of marketing for a major company, I'm going to think twice about paying big dollars for talent that offends so many people.

Why limit your earning potential by taking such bone headed actions?

Everything is identity politics in a SJW world. Accusations have supplanted responsible discourse if you dare criticize or disagree.

Well, I when guess winning (really winning, for a change) and for standing up for what your country stands for (in the absence of the same from this White House), I suppose Trumpsters would view it as an embarrassment.

They're not complaints, they're historically documented FACTS. I want you to do exactly as you just said, compile a similar list for any republicans president in history that has taken sides with foreign adversaries over his own US intelligence, who has praised ruthless dictators that imprison and torture their own people like Kim Jong-un or Rodrigo Duterte whom he evidently has admiration for. Find one other president of either party that has referred to white nationalists and anti-nationalist extremists as 'very fine people'. Find one other US president in history that routinely tells people that the press are all liars, don't believe any of them and don't believe what they see or hear, it's all fake news. Find me ONE president that has said or done even ONE of those shameful, vile things.

That’s the problem. You see everything in terms of “advasaries” even your own countrymen.

Who gives the first **** about her or womens soccer? Not trying to be rude, but the US womens team got their ass handed to them by an under 15 teen team in Dallas. Why would anyone bother paying money to watch an inferior product?

Good for the womens team and congrats on winning the Womens World Cup. But seriously...perspective is everything.

Random anonymous person with next to no credibility insults person on Internet. Think about that, just for a minute.

I'm a citizen of the republic. I can call her a disgraceful **** if I want.

I don't care is she goes or not.

But a couple of things are curious.

Why would she want to encourage her teammates to not go just because she doesn't go. Why does the left always demand complete fealty to their belief whether they agree or not?
And her problem appears to be personal with Trump as a symbol of the Country while Trump's objection to her is on behalf of the Country.

I understand AOC invited the team for a tour of the House.

Kaepernick got a multimillion dollar Nike endorsement not in spite of his outspoken politics but because of them. The coveted younger generation sides with him and Rapinoe, not you. They want their athletes to lend their celebrity and voice to the fight over our society and values like Ali or Tommie Smith and John Carlos did and Nike and the rest can see the writing on the wall and are trying to ingratiate themselves with the "woke" generation. This might help her with endorsements if anything and good for her. I love seeing the top athletes in their sport speak out against conservatives because that message will reach people who arent't necessarily into politics and wouldn't of heard or cared about the issues facing our society otherwise.

She went to a foreign country and disrespected her own country. She's a piece of ****.

Oh the irony of your selective outrage.

You unconditionally support a President who mocked and disrespected a POW, John MCain, but you're now losing your **** over comments made by someone most people had never heard of before

He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. ... I like people who weren't captured.”

Because she's gay of course and hates Trump for the way he's treated the LGBTQ community and because she told him to go **** himself on twitter. Put aside the fact that a sitting president has resorted to taunting an athlete who has done nothing but represent this country admirably. In somehow taking offense at Rapinoe’s comments, Trump doesn’t just show his thin skin. He also shows his utter lack of self-awareness of how he sounds to—and what he and his administration have done to—women, LGBTQ people, African Americans, and other groups.

Fine. So now you've forced me to actually read the quotes. Yuck.

Ya know...I didn't even know this Rapinoe lady was gay. Nor did I care. Still don't actually. Good soccer player...too bad she 'feels' she has to sully this achievement with her virtue-signalling eh? And she didn't tell Trump to "go **** himself". You're projecting. She said she isn't going to the ****ing White House, and doesn't expect an invite anyway. Yup...good soccer player...

So you say Trump "taunted" li'l miss soccer. Well...he did respond to the comment. Something I would have advised him against but...
He also said she should actually win before talking about White House visits. But she was asked about a potential White House visit by some journalist. She didn't bring it up.
Ya...its an unfortunate incident. Oh well...let's see if they win. As a Canuck, and noting that I have little to no interest in soccer, I could care less.
But you sound all aghast about this...unbelievably silly issue. Big soccer fan are we?

And now...you can tell me what you think Trump has done to "women, LGBTQ people, African Americans, and other groups"?
