UFOs are real!

Are they unidentified?
Check.
Are they flying?
Check.
Are the objects? Well, it looks that way. Were they reflections or gas bubbles, that would have been proven by now.

So, OFOs are real.

And it's possible, just possible mind you, that an extraterrestrial Jane Goodall or Dian Fossey is studying us, in much the same way those two ladies are studying chimps and gorillas.

Have they concluded that we're about to become extinct due to our own foolishness? We'd have to ask them.

UFO's have always been real... something flying that is unidentifiable. Big deal.

I saw the most real looking UFO thing of my life about a month ago. Something hovering out over the ocean at night. Bright light. Thought it was an inbound aircraft... something that NEVER happens in this very rural remote stretch of our coast (where I live). WE might get a helicopter a couple of times a week, maybe... or an airline way way up flying from Auckland to Wellington... but nothing just out over the water. It hovered for a few minutes and I was getting bored waiting when it suddenly hauled ass to its right at a 90 degree angle and whizzed off and out of sight. I was really shocked, it happened so fast. Anyway, I assume that there is a reasonable explanation like a drone, or something... but it was at 4:30am on a weekday in pitch black. WTF?

On the other hand, this might just be a 'briefing' to justify a space force.

I squashed a UCO (unidentified crawling object) yesterday - I think it was a bug.

You strike me as someone who lacks curiosity, is basically a skeptic ( and that's okay ) and is not up on all the latest developments in Ufology, and won't bother looking deeper into the subject because of assumptions you've made based on the limited information given on TV.

Am I about right?

Why I said "that's okay", because one can be up on all the latest developments in Ufology, be very curious, and still be a skeptic.

I just hate space aliens. They get drunk and go tearing around in daddy's spaceship, buzz the locals, and then crater in New Mexico...They build the kind of ships that crash. Hell, WE can do that.

So come on down, "galactic space brothers," Hamish has something for you. It's called a club. Traditional human greeting tool. Proven technology.

hah hah.

The Pentagon just finished spending millions investigating sightings of UFOS, recorded on radar by the pilot, filmed by the pilot, and was recorded on ground radar, as well.

Apparently you believe that prospect of intelligent life beyond our own is a joke.

I believe it is an exciting prospect. I can't imagine why anyone would think otherwise, but, alas, there are plenty of people just like you.

Why would the prospect if it being from another planet, given that their are more planets out there than there grains of sand on all the planets in our solar system, be unreasonable?

Drones do not zig zag at hypersonic speed like many UFO sightings ( some of which have been verified by pilots and radar )

Skeptical? check. not curious? No. That's not right. Not up on all of the developments in "ufology?" check. In fact, I'm not sure that ufology is really a scientific pursuit, maybe not even a real word.

Most sightings of UFOs have perfectly rational explanations. The UFO can easily become an IFO. (Identified Flying Object)

But, it is possible, as I said, that an extra terrestrial Jane Goodall or Dian Fossey is observing humanity.

UFOs are real!

If they were threats to human aviation interests, they would already have taken some or destroyed some.

They are far superior technology to what we have. They've been visiting here for thousands of years. If they were hostile, they would have already destroyed our aircraft.

In that regard, they are benign. They laugh at our fighter aircraft like an elephant laughs at fleas.

I don't know what it is, therefore it's aliens.

You just ****in said you don't know what it is!

UFOs are real!

In 1965, there was a UFO sighting in Flint, Michigan, and it made the front page of the Flint Journal. People talked about it for days. I can tell you it wasn't a UFO. It was a prank played by me and some friends. We coated a miniature balloon with aluminum foil, and put about 30 pen sized flashlights in the basket, then sent it off into the wild blue yonder at about midnight. Yes, it as a real UFO. It was unidentified, it was flying, and it was an object. And it triggered all the UFO nuts for miles around. LOL.

95% of sightings are explained.

It's the 5% that are notable.

If there are visiting UFOs from other worlds, my guess us they are taking bets on how this civilization is going to finally self destroy.

P.S. What can I say; I am in cheerful mood today.

There are other possibilities. I invite you to read Dr. David Jacob's "Walking Among Us".

Given your response, it appears my assessment is accurate.

Sure, there are a lot of bozos in the field, just as astronomy was born in astrology and out of the woo goo emerged a science.

Ufology is just beginning it's "emerging" stage.

So, there is wheat amongst the chaff, if you are curious enough to dig deeper. And it's compelling, and fascinating.

As for your thinking of Goodall/Fossey as analogy, I invite you to read Dr. David Jacob's "Walking Among Us". It's not quite like that.

I may do that, but I already understand that 'they' are walking among 'us'. Indeed, as far as I'm concerned the hypothesis advanced by the Human Genome Project back in 2004 or so, that the "junk DNA" in humans is extraterrestrial in nature. As far as I'm concerned, at least in part, 'we' are extraterrestrial.

I think you will find that book, which is devoid of woo, and evidence based, very interesting.

I'm not so sure that real science, astronomy, grew from pseudo science, astrology, but it's true that most people have put aside psuedo science. Not everyone, of course, as it's quite easy to look up your horoscope on that most modern of inventions, the internet.

But, back to UFOs: The idea that they might be alien spacecraft is certainly interesting, entertaining. There's not a lot we could do to investigate whether that idea is more than just a wild notion though.

If they really are from another planet, then they were built by a civilization far more advanced than we are and just might look on us the same way we look on chimps and gorillas.

On what evidence did you base this idea?

"I personally don't know what that DNA does, therefore it's extraterrestrial in nature" is... not something that makes any sense. And I'm quite certain you don't have an extraterrestrial organism's DNA decoded on your laptop to compare with. So, what exactly are you going on?

In 1965 I started college in biology pre-med, but I eventually abandoned that for a liberal arts English degree.

Even in 1965 biologists described part of the human DNA thread as being "junk DNA" because the coding involved on that portion was different from the coding involved in the rest of the thread.

You wouldn't know that because you were apparently living under a rock somewhere, defending the bliss of being ignorant.

We are not all as misinformed and uninformed as yourself, Ace.

I don't mind if aliens from another planet come here.As long as they come here legally.
