Trump’s Obamacare Replacement Push Has Been Totally Abandoned
Back in March, President Donald Trump tasked a trio of Republican senators with crafting a “beautiful” new bill that would, once and for all, replace Obamacare with… something else. At the time, those lawmakers—Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL), John Barrasso (R-WY), and Bill Cassidy (R-LA)—didn’t exactly embrace the effort with open arms. But they didn’t dismiss it out of hand either, declaring they’d work with the White House on a number of health-care initiatives.

Three months later, it’s clear that replacing the Affordable Care Act could not be further from GOP senators’ list of top priorities. In brief interviews with The Daily Beast on Wednesday, the senators that Trump publicly tasked with finally nuking Obamacare were glad to talk about anything on health care—except for the bill that they’d be asked to write.
According to three people familiar with the situation, the Trump administration, including the president himself, have largely lost whatever interest there was in the push. Nowadays, in strategy and messaging discussions in the White House political operation, the 2020 campaign, and Trump-aligned outside groups, there is barely any discussion for making Obamacare replacement a top issue heading into 2020.

This as the GOP, and Trump in particular, are in court attempting to get the entirety of the ACA thrown out. And their plan for what would replace it remains that same as it's been for the past ten years: ???

Unsurprising. They completely ****ed themselves when they called the ACA socialist, and now have nowhere to go, especially since the ACA is largely viewed positively now that people have had a chance to benefit from it.

The individual mandate is gone, which was the pain point for lots of people. The other pain point is being required to buy coverages you don't need as a form of wealth distribution. I shouldn't have to pay for maternity coverage.

The individual mandate was stupid and I'm glad that's gone, but that doesn't change anything that I said.

Also, where does anything require you to pay for maternity coverage? I could maybe see if you have a wife who is covered and able to have children, because it's possible you may need that - but my plan certainly doesn't cover that.

That policy is available to you because Obamacare wasn't fully implemented.

Republicans are blinded to anything that would help even them because all they've heard for years is socialism is bad, government is bad and taxes are bad. Even with facts staring them in the face they refuse to believe, their ideology won't let them. The brits pay half as much as we do for health care and will never go bankrupt or lose their homes for a medical bill...but no, can't have that, it's socialism. Higher taxes on the wealthy, hell no. Why do you want to punish successful people? They have a bullcrap answer for everything except why they keep voting against their own best interests. As I've said on here many times, the republicans control the south and the southern states year after year are among the poorest in the nation. Elect a democrat, hell no. Punish me with tariffs instead. Fools.

Just because it's available doesn't mean that you're required to have it if you're a single dude. You made it sound like you're being forced to pay for coverage you're not even capable of having a use for - which is clearly not true. And still doesn't have anything to do with my post.

For a time, the health plan choices were "Gold", "Silver" and "Bronze". Obamacare was designed to only have a limited choice of approved policies.

It's been nearly a century since the costs of health care started to outpace the means of individual families. That's why health care financing moved to an insurance model around that time: if people didn't start paying for things they personally didn't need as a form of wealth distribution, then virtually no one would get anything significant.

No chance to get anything done in this Congress with the House living in some alternate universe, where the effort to eliminate the one who vanquished their Queen is all that matters.

They're just have to wait until one of them begins to gestate into a new queen at this point. My votes on Biden, though I don't relish the idea of seeing him in heels and a beige pantsuit. (shudders)...

It's rather ironic that a party that has been taken over by liberal progressives who view old white men as evil, currently place what could be the oldest white man in US History to occupy the WH at the top of the heap, with another more radical thinking old white man near the top as well.

If ever there was an example of the whiplash of emotionalism run wild, their list of contenders, and their response to them, is one of the most glaring.

Good excuse for Year 11 of no alternative. Keep ‘em coming!

I don't make any excuse for the pathetic failure of Boehner and his replacement Ryan. They will be remembered as two of the worst Speakers of the House in modern US History.

You can't scream about the mess Obamacare infected the Nation with, and then epically fail when the keys are handed to you.

You're complaint is well deserved.

22+ candidates at this point... yeah. It really seems like the group is overcompensating for the on coming election cycle.

Ok, so I guess we can scratch that off of Trump's 2020 agenda. I don't think the GOP has anything to offer than going back to the status quo prior to the ACA.

The House has passed hundreds of pieces of legislation, some of them quite bipartisan, that McConnell is sitting on, and refusing to bring to the floor of the Senate. This is not about getting work done, but about naked Machavellian use, or abuse, of power, depending on which side of the aisle you are sitting on.

Good. Glad he is. The House majority is a joke and should be ignored. They set the table, let them starve while sitting at it.

man, what a shock. i figured for sure that Trumpists were going to enact the best health care plan ever that covers everything for cheap and isn't associated with the black guy.

Well that was the pitch, until it met reality. Then it became "who knew healthcare was this complicated?"

Should be interesting to to see if you still believe that when the Dems take back the Senate and WH in 2020.
FYI the Senate can ignore the House, until they need to pass a budget, then what?

What horse should I bet on at Belmont today?

If Nancy want's to shut down the government with some political bull****, that's on her. I would suspect the Senate won't want to follow her lead.

I helped my dad sign up on the last enrollment. Those are still the options. You should probably read up on it.
