The dude should have just showed the cop his ID, verifying that was he residence, but he didn't want to do that. No, he wanted to be a dick about, instead.

Wouldn't you???

Maybe in your tumpfantashia you live under marshal law, but I sure as **** do not.

I don't care who you are, you better have a damn good reason to stop and harass me, particularly on my own damn property...

No, I wouldn't. I would have proved that I lived there. Then, the cop could have been on his way and continued to do his job, instead of wasting his time by acting like a entitled asshole.

And technically, Mr. Entitled Asshole wasn't "on his own damn property".

Actually, the student showed the cop his ID, and he didn't even have to do that. A cop can only hold and question you if there is reasonable suspicion. Someone being black who is picking up trash in a yard is not reasonable suspicion.

The good news is that the cop was fired. This is a police department that doesn't tolerate racism. Kudos to them for acting quickly to kick this racist asshole out of the force. He clearly did not belong there.

He in fact did show his ID. He offered to take the police officer into the residence. He was not making trouble, committed no crime, and in no way acted as a threat. The police response was way over the top.

He showed a student ID, that didn't have his address on it.

Which is most likely what he had on him. There is no requirement for people to carry any specific ID whenever they are outside of their home. People do not have to prove they live somewhere. The officer's own supervisor stated he was in the wrong, lacking enough cause.

Yeah and the next time a cop questions someone's reason for hanging out at a house, or an apartment building, the person can just say, "oh, I live here". The local thieves are going to love that ****..lol.

In that town, robbers won't have to do so, either. :lamo

And he did not have to do that, it is your right to go about your daily business without being randomly harassed.

That is actually entitlement, it is call constitutional rights.

I believe you bring them up from time to time...

I can see it now...

Cop: what are you doing taking stuff out of that house?

Robber: I live here.

Cop: Oh, ok...cool. need some help loading that TV in your car?

:lamo

One night many years ago I came home from a party after work (I was a bar manager at that time).

I found a freshly killed deer at the end of my driveway. It was fresh so I decided I wanted it, I called the sheriff's department and they came and tagged it for me (something we do here in Wisconsin).

I threw it in my truck drove up to the house, gutted it and as I was about to hang it I saw it had been shot. This was early summer, not deer season, even though I lived miles from the next house I did technically live in city limits. So I called the sheriff back and he said it wasn't his problem, call a warden. I thought it was strange considering this involved gunfire inside of city limits.

So I followed instructions and stayed up until a warden was in his office at 7am, he was to my place within 20 mns.(kudos Wisconsin DNR).

He took one look at it and said your right that deer was shot, you need help hanging it?

I said sure, we hung the deer, and he went on his way.

I got a lot of good meat, never showed my driver's license and the cops were not assholes

That is how I expect to b treated as a citizen...

Once again, reasonable suspicion, and there wasn't any, which is why the racist asshole was fired. Having guns drawn on you for the crime of being black is not acceptable in America.

That'll teach those uppity ****ing cops to question a black dude. :lamo

Thanks for delegitimizing yourself, almost right off the bat.

Wow, c'mon folks. A tweet and we are up and running? Can we have some facts, please?

How would you expect to be treated if you hadn't contacted the authorities and a LEO saw you loading up the deer and stopped to ask you some questions?

He should be charged with petty theft for refusing to give the guy his ID back too. When someone has your property and they refuse to give it back its theft.

Michael Brown also made the mistake of thinking it was cool to resist cops just doing their jobs. When will the morons ever learn to respect law enforcement officers the way they should?

Maybe you should click the damn link and watch the video.

First, I am not a poacher so I would not load a deer until properly tagged.

Now if he happens to show up at my driveway at 4:30 in the morning when there happened to be a dead dear at the end of my driveway I would have questioned him about why he happened to be there...

You have to understand that my house was under surveillance at that time and had bee. For a very long time.

You ever scare the **** out of a cop parked on the other side of railroad tracks and a swamp a few hundred yards away by looking at him through a scope on a high powered rifle while he was watching you through binoculars?

It's funny how fast they move the first few times...
