How is it that I was a member of a regionally successful band for four years, playing venues all over the Midwest, crowds up to ten thousand people, innumerable girls night after night after night, and at least a half century of relationships, one night stands, friends with benefits and ultimately, two marriages...and yet I've never once been accused of ANYTHING improper, not even sexual assault or harassment, much less rape?
I've been slapped in the face once or twice and had a drink or two thrown in my face a few times, and that's about it.
(And I probably had it/them coming...maybe...)
No knock on the door with some kid standing there saying I'm their Daddy, no STD's, no rape charges.
And yet some lawmaker, who is ostensibly some sort of "role model", feels compelled to make excuses for men who can't control themselves when a woman says "NO"?
Women, especially today, have for the most part figured it out when it comes to dealing with men who don't have proper manners and a proper upbringing. They're not about to take your crap anymore, so you better bring your best or they're not interested. And when you get right down to it, procreation and marriage or not, it is still "the mating game" in most respects, even if it's only for the sheer pleasure of it.
And because it IS the mating game, I don't see any reason why women shouldn't keep their standards up.
It's supposed to make us want to be better men, all except for the guys who count on flying somewhere else to get the cheap seats, or who engage in fantasies where they imagine themselves being in the cheap seats.
Due to the anonymity of this forum, those guys can "be anyone they want to pretend to be"...as long as there are people gullible enough to buy the baloney they're cooking up.
