Arkansas To Remove Confederate Statue In U.S. Capitol, Add Johnny Cash, Daisy Bates
Arkansas is replacing its century-old statues in the U.S. Capitol with more modern figures: American music legend Johnny Cash and civil rights hero Daisy Lee Gatson
“Most everyone who was involved in the discussion agreed we needed to update the statues with representatives of our more recent history,” Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in his weekly radio address.
This just made my day.

10 years from now, they'll discover Cash was racist.

"Tear it down!!!"

Great news! The civil war is over, they lost and it's time they got over it. We reject their views and what the Confederacy stood for.

Yes, erase history so it will never be repeated....knowingly.

Pick up a history book.

Go to a library.

Log off debate politics and do some research online.

Go to a museum.

I assure you there are plenty of ways to learn about Confederate losers!

"Tear it down!!!"

Yup.

I want to know when the Washington Monument and jefferson Memorial are going to be removed.

Incredibly offensive.

If you want to remember traitorous losers then pick up a book or visit a museum. They shouldn't be honored with public statues.

Should Yale change it's name?

Funnily enough, the Germans still know who the Nazis were despite not having statues of Heinrich Himmler all over the place.

Fascinating how much the statue haters resemble the Taliban.

But liberals tend to despise free speech (they don't agree with) as much as they tend to hate guns.

Their purity standards will come back to bite them on the ass of course - time is a b*tch.

That's the sort of attitude that we in the South expect from the rainbow people of the North.

Your portrayal of us being racists fighting for nothing but the ability to own another human is nothing but a lie. Most of us never did.

Imagine for a moment if the shoe was on the other foot. Would you want your history erased?

Your history?...Bull****

Not to worry! History isn't being erased. It's still all there in books.

Which is why conservatives will never come to know it.

You're welcome!

Try as you might, you ought not celebrate your ancestors' attempt to destroy the U.S. and preserve an economic system that was dependent on slave labor. It makes some of us question your loyalty to the U.S. today. Are you a patriot or a subversive who desires to try again?

Okeydokey.

This kind of news no longer bothers anyone.

Here in the Los Angeles area, a high school has just changed its name because the man for whom it is named was a believer in eugenics.

In the coming years, many statues, names, books, etc. will be removed.

Times marches on. Like it or not.

It does and it will.
I'm not a fan of the implications though. And I still don't understand why historical statues and monuments are so offensive?
To me this is all very childish...in a dangerous sort o' way.

I agree 100% with you, but there ain't nothing we can do about it!

(Oh, by the way, the DIXIE School District in northern California has just changed its name. "Dixie" upset some people.)

Stupid human tricks...

Time to remove any mention of Charles Limbergh...A known Nazi sympathizer and white supremacist
