Trump to award Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom

How does playing football? Roger Staubach an NFL Quarterback was a recipient a few years ago. Its not unusual for sports figures to get it.
 
Given the fact that Presidents have been giving this medal to all sorts of celebrities it really has lost any possible meaning or significance.

Didn't Ellen say and do a lot to help the LGBT community? Isn't improving the lot of a discriminated minority a public service? I don't think Woods has done anything like that. His accomplishments are for himself, aren't they? Like I said, nothing against Woods, he will be in the history books for his achievements in golf, but that isn't a public service.

And I continue to state that our Medal of Freedom should not be handed out for merely personal achievements, which is my opinion of some of these athletes. Some have done other things, like give back to their communities or use their celebrity status to shine spotlights on injustices, generally making some lives better. I just don't see how that applies to Tiger Woods. Has he done anything beside win golf tournaments to deserve this?

I suppose you could say being gay and having your own TV show is inspirational to the LGBT community.
You could also say it's an accomplishment for herself.

And you could apply the same type of reasoning to Woods.

Tiger is African American, Native American, and a mix of Thai, Chinese and Dutch.

Trump didn't **** up anything. He is awarding an athlete. The rabid anti Trump crowd who opposes anything are the ones ****ing it up. The adults are moving on with life while the kids cry foul.

She's done more than that, but yes, being the first TV celebrity to come out publicly was a great service to others in the LGBT community.

I get your point, that Woods was the first African/Asian/American, or man of color, to have such success in his chosen profession, one that had long been a white man's game with country clubs all over that still did not allow blacks to participate. In spite of his feet of clay in other areas, I guess I have to give him that.

I stand corrected, and convinced.
