McConnell blocks resolution calling for Mueller report to be released publicly

This was his reasoning. Do you disagree?

"The special counsel and the Justice Department ought to be allowed to finish their work in a professional manner," McConnell said. "To date, the attorney general has followed through on his commitments to Congress. One of those commitments is that he intends to release as much information as possible."

I'm sure he hasn't gotten to this point yet. He saw a headline and that was good enough. Thank you for providing the context.

Does Trump really want it released though?

He seems like the kind of person that puts up an act in public but behind closed doors it's a different story. That way his supporters can say he does want it released and not be any wiser.

No, trump doesn’t want it released just like trump said he would release his tax returns.

Dirty old Cocaine Mitch.

Piece of semi-human trash.

Good point. I can only go on his public statements, though I've been told by his followers not to pay any attention to what he says.

Blah blah, Republicans good, Democrata bad. Trump Smash!

That's a good reason not to do it today. It's a bad reason not to ever do it.

Where did he say it shouldn't ever be done?

It's a non-binding resolution as I understand it. It does not require anything to be released right away. All they needed was to have a vote on the resolution, one with broad bipartisan support. Not one member of the House voted against it, Trump says he supports release. The only people with a stick up their asses about it are Graham and McConnell. All they need to do is say "it should be released when ready"

That doesn't answer the question. Where did McConnell say that it shouldn't ever be released?

By not supporting a nonbinding resolution that it should be. It's simple. Either it should be released, or it shouldn't. It's just a statement that gee, it would be nice if this were released.

I'm pretty sure its proof it does not exonerate him. No matter what the jerk off right wingers have to say about it, they have no credibility anyway.

When McConnell dies, I'll be the first to take a steaming pile of **** on his grave, what a complete scumbag

They had no problem releasing the findings of the Clinton special counsel report

It's not a stretch. He is opposed to saying it should be released. Therefore, he is opposed to releasing it.

It's a stretch.

How does the public knowing hinder the special counsel or the justice department from finishing their work in a professional manner?

I mean I'm willing to wait until they're finished. But I suspect we might see Mitch pull a "too close to an election" trick again.

He certainly doesn't want us to see what Mueller found out about the Russian interference. Because most likely it casts a shadow on the 2016 election's validity. AND he's hoping for a repeat.

It can't be released until everything required to be redacted by law is redacted.

What can McConnell do? Neither he nor the Senate has any actual say in whether it's released or not.

What did Mueller find that leads you believe McConnell doesn't want anyone to see it?

We may not get to see. Big report from an investigation of the interference, only one Takeaway given so far.

A report that may very well drag a bunch of stuff out on the carpet for the cat to smell that could eleicit a response that could defang the manipulation industries. And that would gore a lot of oxen.

Barr said his intent is to release it, pending the processing required by law, which he described.

Until then, you're just assuming it says these damning things that so-and-so people definitely want to hide. Why?

The report is long and the mandate was to investigate Russian interference. The collusion was in addition or a side note to the overall mandate.

The report reportedly goes into great detail on what was done.

What was done is busisness as usual in America. The only difference is nobody paid the Russians to do it.

There hasn't been too much talk on the nuts and bolts. Almost certainly because all political campaigns use these methods. Marketers. PR people. Far too many oxen will be gored if the American people ever twig to the extent to which they are being subjected to attempts at manipulating them below the level of cognition.

As a purely partisan political animal Mitch doesn't want this discussed. And I predict that if we ever get to see the report that it will prove to reasonable people that russia gave trump the presidency.

Frankly, I'm always going to wonder if Mueller went the way he did because of the mess that would result if there was irrefutable proof of conspiracy. (Collusion never was a crime. Criminal collusion is "conspiracy")

What would happen if it was determined that a president conspired with a foreign country to win the election? Is anything he's done legitimate? Does all the legislation he signed (and EOs) become invalid?

You get the idea.

I predict we won't see much of the report. Held back in a bipartisan effort. We'll see I guess.

So . . . you're speculating and assuming.
