White Nationalist Rep. Steve King Posts Violent Meme About New Civil War

I think the constant negative rhetoric by those on the left could indeed cause a civil war. I pray that we can all come together and stop demonizing the other. You folks need to come at things with love. The hate you are holding on to is burning a hole in your soul.

The disgraced lawmaker ― who was unceremoniously stripped of all his House committee assignments*this year for previous white nationalist rhetoric ― shared a graphic that imagined “another civil war,” this time between red and blue states.*

It is absolutely disgraceful. Shame on the GOP for continuing to endorse him.

Hey Steve King, those armed guards in The Handmaid's Tale look pretty tough, too.

Are you as upset with the VA governor, Lt. governor and AG? Who do you think stripped him of committee assignments?

Have you seen a single liberal/Dem defend the leaders in VA? I've only seen them calling for resignations.

So why are they still in power??? Because the democratic base supports them! :doh

A year ago we all thought this but no one said it. Now people are talking about it. In two years, if Trump loses, it may be go time for the deplorables.

I bet you didn't even see the irony in these two sentences.

No, they are/were trying to weather the storm. Considering we live in an age where the president does something stupid every other day that isn't hard to do.

So you condone it. Not surprising

Okay, so why does he keep getting re-elected?

There hasn't been an election since the white nationalist comment. If he gets reelected then you will likely hear a collective WTF to the people Iowa.

Lots of his statements had plausible deniability. There are some, like the cantaloupe calfs remark where it's like, you just don't say that **** in public and on TV. But, I do think whenever someone comes out against multiculturalism, that is a clear sign that they are racist. Was that the one that did it? I can't remember. but, as far back as Steve King has spoken out against multiculturalism, I would consider him an "out-of-the-closet" racist.

I'm going to disagree with the bolded, there are legit arguments for why multiculturalism is bad for society and doesn't necessarily mean you are racist.

As for King, the comment that crossed the line was when he questioned why is white nationalism such a bad word or something to that extent.

railing against multiculturalism is usually a racist dog whistle imo.

Being an immigrant country, the United States is intended to be multicultural.

I would really like the far right to tell us who they're going to fight in this 'civil war'. Who's going to fight them and what with.

After all according to King they've got all the guns and ammo. What are the so-called 'libs' going to fight back with? Will they throw tofu?

It seems the right-wingers the only ones spoiling for a scrap. In their mind they're just going to round up all the sissy progressives (and minorities naturally) and impose their will on others at the point of a gun.

Sounds like ISIS to me.

If it were to the reach the breaking point and an actual civil war does break out, I doubt it will be like the previous one with states vs states as our politics have become nationalized. It will likely be rural vs metro and effectively be the end of the US with foriegn nations supporting both sides of the conflict so that we essentially destroy ourselves to the point that we will never be able to recover. Anyone that thinks a civil war is a good thing or will turnout favorably to any one side is not thinking rationally. I do think if that we continue down the path we are currently on that it is likely in the next 25-100 years there will be a second civil war.

I don't disagree with that statement as that was likely the intentions of the founders with the idea of individual liberty. All I am saying is that there are legit arguments against it as humans are tribal by nature and throughout human history any time other cultures meet in an area there is division and ultimately violence. I prefer the ideal of America being the great melting pot with people of all cultures coming together around a core set of values. If you look at our history the melting pot concept is a much better outlook for social cohesion rather than multiculturalism.

I said it doesn't necessarily make one racist, not that racists don't use that as a "dog whistle" (I hate that concept). Similar to the idea of a wall or limiting illegal immigration, all racists support it but there are legit arguments for it that have absolutely zero to do with race.

Ah, but according to some, the problem is on both sides.

Partisan Hate Is Becoming a National Crisis

Yeah, I call bull**** on that premise.

Yes but what's breaking point and who's going to start shooting? The right are always bragging about having all the guns. What are the 'libtards' going to come after them with? Gluten-free noodles?

Yeah, he is a pretty disgusting racist POS.

But, Iowa....'nuff said.

Not sure, I do think we are already in beginning stages of it though. We are already seeing people getting harrassed and physically assaulted over their political ideology. As far as what "libtards" are going to come after them with, the answer is obviously guns as evidenced in the baseball field shooting.

Something i've noticed is there's a small but vocal segment of Republicans who seem desperate to want to another Civil War. What I wonder is...don't they realize they are significantly outnumbered?

Its too late to stop a civil war. These are exciting times.
