Michael Cohen Will Disclose 'What It's Like to Work for a Madman'

One liar talking about another..... who ya gonna believe?

Well, I will go will with the guy that is testifying under oath, with nothing more to lose, that is telling a story about a character on whom we have many, many, many other stories that are pretty consistent.

I don't think that "he's a liar" card works very well in the defense of Trump.

You do realize that Flynn. Manafort and Gates each plea bargained...

The fed has a 93% conviction rate. They have the goods on you when they file an indictment. They did not need "settle" for what they could have easily attained in court (convictions on greater charges). They settled because each of these people have material evidence on a bigger fish.

The grill is ready.

I am going to believe that the one accused is innocent unless proven guilty.

A number of Obamas appointees left in the middle of his admin, but none of them came away telling stories of how crazy their ex-boss was.

Funny how all of Trumps ex-subordinates leave disgruntled. Either it has to do with the type of person Trump picks, or it is because the boss really is rat crap crazy

Of course they don’t... the Obamatrons would be indicted for their abuses.

It's always best to approach this hearing with an open mind but naturally people are going to watch with an opinion that has pretty much been formulated already. Cohen won’t be able to talk about topics that he has discussed with special counsel Robert Mueller, but it sounds as though he's going to bring out a lot of things that will come as a surprise to many of us.

[h=1]Ex-Trump Lawyer Michael Cohen Will Disclose 'What It's Like to Work for a Madman' to Congress, Associate Says: Report[/h]President Donald Trump’s longtime former lawyer Michael Cohen will reportedly provide a “chilling” testimony on what working for a “madman”—Trump—is like, in an open hearing before the House Oversight Committee next month.

“He’s going to tell the story of what it’s like to work for a madman, and why he did it for so long,” a person close to Cohen told The Wall Street Journal in a report published Tuesday. “He’s going to say things that will give you chills.”

The next Amorosa... pffffffft... ROTFLOL.

Either way, Cohen's testimony will piss Trump off royally, so to me it's free entertainment, lol! I'm sure Mueller and the SDNY will know exactly if and when Cohen lies under oath to congress, so it's his funeral if he does. Personally, I think Cohen and Trump are flip sides of the same corrupt coin, and I hope they both end up paying for it in the same way. :)

What corruption are you accusing Trump of?

So Cohen's testimony will be "believe me when I tell you that I lied and lied and lied."

Slight problem here.

If he lies to Congress he can be charged again.

SDNY and Mueller have alot of information. If Cohen lies, he's going to see more jail time.

I have to say I don't care what it was like for Cohen to "work for a madman." That is/was his burden to bear.

I do, however, care what the madman did because that madman is now the POTUS. We he not, I truly wouldn't care what he did; it'd just be something for LEOs and courts to deal with.

Like Avenatti, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, etc., Cohen knows what he has to say and who he has to appeal to in this attempt at rehabilitation.

But despite his pending jailtime, does Cohen still have to be concerned about lawyer/client privilege for some of what he might be tempted to say even if he's since been disbarred?

Hmm. Good question. Could Cohen be sued for violating privilege?
A quick search showed this is the case, further, the information given which violates privilege can't be used by the government against Trump/the client. But, I'm not a lawyer.

Yes, Cohen does, or at least should be, concerned about violating lawyer-client privilege. However, the privilege does not cover non-legal matters, nor does it cover criminal activity.

Cohen knows his sentence is fluid dependent on his disparaging of Trump. It would be called 'cooperating' with the Mueller investigation'.

Seems a bit of a conundrum for Cohen. Seems he'll be hoist by his own petard a lot.

But he gladly took Trump's money.
Cohen's only remorse is that he got caught being a criminal.
Nobody but Cohen is responsible for his choices.

But you go ahead with it, and make Cohen out to be a victim.

Cohen is in no way a victim. He’s a criminal and he’s coming clean to try and save himself. He’s a thug just like Trump and they turn on each other at the drop of a hat.

Agree with the first part 100%. (bold)
The latter remains to be seen.

I don't have a blind eye and have acknowledged Trump's no saint.
I simply am a person who believes in all being given due process under the law.

So no leniency for cooperation?

All the while, his honesty will constantly be in doubt, seeing as he lied once before.

Also, how much can he really reveal? Wouldn't any "investigation" he's involved in still be active, and thus no details would be allowed to be revealed until it's conclusion?

Are you going to start making threads about the evils of prosecutors using snitches to put accused illegal alien drug dealers in jail? This happens all the time. It's how they put a mid-level dealer in jail, and it's how they put mafia bosses in jial.

That opening bit is ridiculous and insincere unless you really do mean to campaign for the end of using liars, criminals, etc., to put other criminals and liars in jail. If so, good luck with that....

But I doubt it. Again and again over the last few years, I've heard people from the right drag out all sorts of supposedly principled objections to entirely routine things that they did not in the past and will not be complaining about in the future. You can't trust a witness who lied before turning state's evidence! You can't trust those secret rubber-stamp FISA courts! This investigation, just as broad as all the others, is suddenly too broad! Down with the CFR that requires a special counsel to look at things like obstruction of justice or any crime they happen upon!

Yadda yadda. The list is endless. And as I predicted, with all those other things, there's nary a peep once outlets like Fox stop blaring on about the subject. Where are all the threads about reforming the FISA process, a process that was entirely fine when we were told the government is going after nasty terrorists? If it really was so objectionable, it should still be objectionable today. But we're not on about that because the attempt to discredit a 70 page warrant application is no longer being pushed by Trump's media defenders, and instead the focus is on trying to minimize what Cohen has to say.

So now we have to be concerned about criminals turned state's evidence....

...but only until the next source of revelations about Trump appears. Then we'll be "worrying" about that.

I understand that he could be liable for even more criminal charges, but how will we know whether Cohen is lying or not without some proof? If it's his word against Trump, I mean...

Lying under oath has a way of subjecting you to new perjury charges AND getting rid of any prior leniency via cooperation agreements, not that I hear anyone ever complain (well, other than criminal defense attorneys and perhaps their clients) about the mundane and routine use of informants who are criminal themselves to take down bigger criminals.

What Cohen has been doing and will be doing is what happens daily in our "justice" system. And nobody utters a peep when some low level street dealer rats on his bigger-dealer boss.

It incredible what a man will say when he is threatened by Federal Prosecutors with decades in prison and the possibility that they may go after his wife.

The scary part is they can do this to anyone. "Three Felonies a Day" by Harvey Silverglate https://www.amazon.com/Three-Felonies-Day-Target-Innocent/dp/1594035229 explains it best. It shows how dishonest evil Federal Investigators and Prosecutors can go over any innocent person living in America with a microscope and find ways to charge them with at least 3 felonies a day on any day of their lives.

The one undeniable fact of this situation is that Cohen, Flynn, Mannford and all the others are facing this only because they supported President Trump, no other reason.

Aside form maybe the Woodrow Wilson era, Obama made D.C. into the closest it has ever been to a Banana Republic Dictatorship. Trump beat them and all this Mueller crap is the Empire Striking Back.

He sure liked working for Trump.....see that is the problem with the story that he is telling now.

But he gladly took Trump's money.

lie, deny, deflect.

Rinse. Repeat ad infinitum.

None of you give a single **** about the routine practice of using informants, themselves criminals, to take down bigger informants. Not one. You're only typing those words because you think they look like a principled objection. But they're not principled and everyone knows it, because you never complain about the practice when the target is someone other than Trump. And if the context was anything different, you'd be calling Harvey a scumbag for representing "those people."

The idea of seeing any one of you go to bat for someone convicted of being an illegal alien drug dealer because the person who testified against him was his underling street thug....

:lamo

Of course he's going to spin the most absurd story he can for congress. That's what the WANT him to do. Maybe he'll get a staff position with Schiff or one of the others after he gets out of the hoosegow if he gives them a good show.

Yeah, that is why you call dems crooks even though they have not been afforded due process
All Democrooks... And the reason they took the all expense paid trip to HI during the raging, deadly fires... "The utility companies are pushing for a new state law that would raise electricity prices to offset costs incurred from wildfires, according to The New York Times."

The House Dems are putting him front and center for "Bash Trump" entertainment value only.
There's no legitimate reason for him to "testify" in the House except for the Dems to play "Let's embarrass Trump" and waste time and money.

Look, I want to see him in prison too - I just don't want to listen to his worshipers wine about how he was denied due process or about a conspiracy. I want all the i's dotted and t's crossed.
