Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans Gay Employees

Did you just move the goalposts from "wipe out Christianity" to "have anything against Christianity?" Because damn man that's off the field, out of the city, and into the next sport.

I think it was obvious that the petty complaint about Pence wasn't the real reason, because she isn't going to change, and neither is Christianity. It's precepts have been in place for over 2000 years. So what is the solution? Getting rid of it all together, right? The railing I see on this site against Christianity seems unceasing, especially by the same hypocrites who won't criticize Islam.

Calling people out for their unjustified intolerance, is not being intolerant.

"You haven't a clue?" You do know that that doesn't make you sound smart, don't you? It makes you sound like a little kid who dropped his crayons when he found his mom's fountain pen.

And obviously the last 8 years has taught you nothing about me. I don't give one damn if people are impressed by me. Not even one.

You don't the slightest clue about Pence's sexual preferences, and you knew that when you made your post. So you're just trying to impress your likeminded friends.

Good question. Doubt you'll get a honest answer.

It's not actually a good question because the story isn't about "Christian" or "Muslim" schools, but that the wife of the VP and who could easily become POTUS chose to work there, at a place that openly excludes LGBT. If anyone's confused, here's the thread title:

"Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans Gay Employees"

*pats on back* Awww, there, there. Poor disenfranchised white guy. It'll be OK.

It is OK, and I have not complained one bit. All I did was to point out another similar example of a public organization which uses such an exclusion policy. It seems that you find exclusive groups to be a problem only if those excluded fit your definition of a worthy victim class.

Discriminating against employing LGBT teachers and staff IS acting out against them. Do you really not understand that?

The point, which so many are missing here, is that for such a public figure as the Vice President's wife to work for such an exclusive and intolerant organization is unwise, politically.

Not sure if it's unwise politically or not - depends on who Pence wants to impress. What it does do, however, is send a political statement and the story is she chose to make that political statement by working there.

Yep.

I disagree with most of the ideals and “moral code” that the school chooses to promote. I’d never send my kids there. And I question that in an era where the vast majority of the country is accepting (and with the trend toward more acceptance), whether the optics of this are good for the Pence’s and the GOP as a whole.

But I can’t say that the school doesn’t have the absolute right to do what it does, nor does Mrs. Pence not have the right to work there.

As far as I can tell, everyone accepts that schools have a 'right' to exclude LGBT and Mrs. Pence certainly has the 'right' to work there. All anyone is doing that I've seen is exercising our 'right' to criticize her choice, and as wife to the VPOTUS, to embrace religious-based discrimination against LGBT, and the broader choice by the school.

Hilarious how all the "we only want marriage equality" BS'ers who said they're not trying to legislate acceptance, who said that it was totally preposterous to think that they would demand homosexual acceptance in religious institutions now are doing just that and proving those of us who've known their agenda all along 100% right.

What part of this story has anything to do with "legislate acceptance" and why in the same sentence did you conflate "homosexual acceptance" with legislation?

Using the appropriate "acceptance" as a matter of personal opinion standard, the school is demanding homosexual non-acceptance, and they have the power to enforce their own demands and do not accept homosexuals as employees.

Oh the horrors!
Karen Pence is a Christian who walks the walk and chooses to be employed at a private school that suits her personal beliefs.

The sky is falling... the sky is falling.
Does that about sum up this thread?

remember when muslims were tossing gays off rooftops and the left sat in silence?

Is that the same time when racists were killing blacks and Jews and "the right" sat in silence?

I mean, it looks like the goal here is to come up with really stupid stereotypes and red herrings, so that's my entry. Hope you like it.

Thanks for your opinion. And the questions was if would be the same if it was a Muslim school that openly excludes LGBT. Any question that would point out an obvious bias, is a good question. IMO

Why are bisexual women and men hated so much by the gay community?

Ya know, the very same people who claim to be victims of exclusion themselves?

But...but......but........................PENCE works for a Christian school!

Liberals are such assholes and hypocrites.

Wow, that's a pathetic response. You start with a red herring, then conclude by calling "liberals" assholes and hypocrites. In the middle you appear to be defending a Christian school excluding gays by pointing out some gays exclude bisexuals, which is a stupid argument actually. THEY DID IT TOO! SO IT'S OK? Not sure....

The OP wants to wipe out Christianity, that's the bottom line.

Really? Wipe it out?!!! That's terrible! Similarly, taking a job with a Christian school proves Mrs. Pence (and her husband) want to WIPE OUT GAYS! Which also seems a bit extreme if you asked me, but the logic is sound. Excluding gays from employment clearly means - wipe them out - and, OBVIOUSLY, criticizing someone for working at a school that wants to WIPE OUT GAYS means a desire to wipe out all Christians, I'm pretty sure.

When someone puts out some petty little thread about someone working somewhere they don't allow gays. Then we find out it's a Christian school; sure they don't have anything against Christianity, sure sure. ;)

No Duh! And disapproving of some group clearly means a desire to WIPE THEM OUT, obviously. It's logic.

But saying that you don't believe something is right is NOT the same as mistreating/discriminating against.

That's true, but the school is by definition 'discriminating' against LGBT through their hiring practices.

Oh the horrors!

Does that about sum up this thread?

If to criticize something means to claim the sky is falling, then your analysis is OK.

The other side of this thread is "OH NOOOOO someone is criticizing someone for working at a school that excludes LGBT. THE SKY IS FALLING! CRITICISM IS UNFAIR!!!"

Thanks for your opinion. And the questions was if would be the same if it was a Muslim school that openly excludes LGBT. Any question that would point out an obvious bias, is a good question. IMO

Nice try, but no. Here's the response.

I see no issue with this. The school is a private Christian school.

Does the OP also have an issue with Muslim schools. Seems that faith objects to people who are LGBTQ.

A decent analogy would be an OP, "Michelle Obama is working at a Nevada brothel that serves gays and lesbians" followed by, "I see no issue with this. Brothels are legal in Nevada. Would the OP also have a problem with brothels that serve heterosexual clients?"

Also, too, asking a hypothetical, "BUTWHATABOUT the non-existent case of her working at a Madrassas? Huh?" to somehow point out/prove bias is pretty much always bogus.

Hmmm. Looks like something Mueller should investigate.
It may even justify a Democrat-run circus House Committee investigation.

No investigation required for KKKers

Where did he say he felt disenfranchised?

You know just because he didn't say he was disenfranchised didn't mean he didn't feel that way.

Do you walk around and tell people when you are sad? Angry? Frustrated? Overwhelmed?

You don't the slightest clue about Pence's sexual preferences, and you knew that when you made your post. So you're just trying to impress your likeminded friends.

Do you truly not understand what it means to be "in the closet," American?

Does that need to be explained to you?

Does that about sum up this thread?

And what exactly are those "personal beliefs"? I wonder if that school serves HAMDERDERS.

Thanks for your opinion. And the questions was if would be the same if it was a Muslim school that openly excludes LGBT. Any question that would point out an obvious bias, is a good question. IMO

I haven't read the whole thread, so forgive me if this has been covered.

Has anyone in the thread defended exclusion of LGBT from Muslim schools?

Not speaking for others, but I think exclusion is wrong in any case.

Let's ask him in language Trumper's understand.
