Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans Gay Employees

Weird, I don't see anything in there about discriminating against an employee on the basis of their sexual preference.

Doh. Religious freedom.

It's good to see the atheists in the US have not yet succeeded in outlawing freedom of the Christian religion.

They’re trying like hell though.

Weird, this isn't a link to the text of the first amendment, which was the subject of the post I quoted.

First amendment... Prohibits Congress from making any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion...

The House needs to investigate this immediately, and then begin impeachment proceedings against Karen Pence.

It's called sarcasm.
You seem to require crayons.

I simply asked why you would know, as the topic seems to interest you so.

You can keep your crayons. Might provide you comfort on those trying Saturdays.

Don't blame me because you post stupidly.

Wouldn't it be easier to begin investigating which private schools should be allowed to remain open? ;)

Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans Gay Employees

So what? Why should the general public care about where Karen Pence works?
  • The school exists, but it doesn't even have a rating, let along a national ranking.
  • While it may not be obvious, there are Christian fanatics in Northern VA and that school caters to them, and Karen Pence is content to be part of that. That is what it is.
  • Being anti-gay, or being indifferent about the fact of a theist organization's being so, is hardly a new or shocking revelation about Karen Pence.
  • That a parochial school exists and would be of that mind/management also is no surprise.

I think she can be excused because her husband talks to God.

The school discriminates against LGBTQ people in its job application.

Karen Pence started at a job this week, teaching art at Immanuel Christian School in Northern Virginia. It’s not a school where very everyone is welcome. The 2018 employment application, posted online, makes candidates sign a pledge not to engage in homosexual activity or violate the “unique roles of male and female.”

“Moral misconduct which violates the bona fide occupational qualifications for employees includes, but is not limited to, such behaviors as the following: heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, sexual harassment, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites,” says the application.

I think its frightening to see the mycelium fungus like in roads religion is making in state and federal government. Religion should feed souls not rule over them as a hovering religious police force. If they had their way we would be Iran under the Ayatollahs.

Wouldnt ANY Christian or similarly faith based school be expected to operate maintaining moral standards directed by their faith? And wouldnt that require a commitment to be someone NOT actively engaged in and embraced behavior that said belief system defines as a sin?

Religious freedom to discriminate?

I presume you are a fellow atheist, Manc Skipper? That is chiefly what religions and the religious do. Discriminate. Both for good and for ill. And since I believe in the freedom of association, and that people should be allowed to gather together and choose whom they associate with, I will not argue that this should in any way be abolished.

I wouldn't care if someone set up a school next door to Mrs Pence's school that taught kids how to be LGB. As long as it isn't a public school, have at it.

Hat's off to freedom.

The post is benevolent and yet, somehow, not right.

Thank you for sharing, I guess.

Maybe I can outline some of the things that were ****ed up in your post.

1. You tacitly endorsed discrimination against LGBT.

2. You proposed that LGB is taught.

We can pause there while you attempt to digest the bigotry you've spewn.

I think the idea of the OP was that Mother got a job there, not the practice of the school itself.

Are you saying Mother should not work at a private Christian school?
