[W:98]A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

Commies can wear commie t-shirts in America because republicans are not bruised by such nonsense. It is the democrat snowflake who cannot abode opposing opinions.

Commies!

I saw this on election day. Some people had identified him as a poll worker, which wasn't true, but it's a helluva shirt to wear out on election day to cast your vote.

If anyone needs to know why the "Confederate" flag carries its bad reputation, look at the picture below. He might as well be wearing a white robe. Good to see his employer didn't put up with it.

I'd like to know what kind of nurse this guy is, and what are the requirements for licensure in MS? I know and associate with a ton of nurses (RN, BSN, MSN, APN), and they're all pretty smart. This guy don't seem smart enough to be a nurse.

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

The backdrop of the banner of white supremacists during the Jim Crow era and the civil rights battles gives the game away.

He might not have seen it in that context. Not everybody thinks just like YOU. It isn't for you to tell people what to think, either. That's why people should mind their own ****ing business.

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

What would you call a centuries long program of torturing and lynching blacks who got out of line, and who were protected by the state, never prosecuted for their tortures and killings? It was domestic terrorism on a grand scale against blacks. During the civil rights era, whites who came to the South to assist in the efforts for black civil rights were also targeted and murdered. If that's not terrorism, what is?

I know they do, but there is a difference between opposing homosexuality and that t-shirt, which claimed "Mississippi Justice" was a noose in a Confederate flag. What message was he sending if not approval of Jim Crow era lynchings?

A lie. There was no "centuries" long program to punish black folks.

You do know that nooses were used to hand white folks, too. Right? Lynchings were exclusively used on black folks.

MLK would be so disappointed in you, because you aren't judging this man by the content of his character.

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

I see no RACE on that t-shirt!!! Show me on that t-shirt where one race is targeted.
Noose + Confederate flag = black hate

OMG. Is that was passes for thinking where you are from?

Democrats + Planned Parenthood = Infanticide and Murder

See? I can do your fuzzy math too

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

I repeat: Too many people are apparently happy to live in a fascist state where expressing an opinion will get you fired, and destroyed, and bring mobs to your house. This is the new Leftwing Socialist America. Thank God I have no grandchildren who will live through the Hell that Liberals and Democrats are creating.

When the only protected speech is speech that that people find acceptable, then there is no free speech anymore

All you people defending this man losing his job have opened the door to real fascism

OK, so he's a moron who doesn't anticipate wearing a shirt with the banner of white supremacists and a noose and referring to lynchings as "Mississippi Justice" will be seen as racist. Fair enough!

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

I mean I hear you, but seeing as I'm a free market capitalist I view private employers as having the at-will right to terminate employees for any reason, unless he has a union contract (highly unlikely in Miss) I don't see why his firing is wrong.

Also, if he works somewhere where there's a lot of minority employees and this is known in the work place, it can create a bad work environment that's a distraction to the objectives of the organization.

The nursing home residents could very well include minorities, and most likely many are. There is a lot of nursing home abuse in the news. It's totally disturbing and disgusting. What kind of black family in Mississippi would feel comfortable with a guy like that taking care their mother or grandmother?

I just noticed your avatar: Wille Nelson. Eh? Without googling, do you know what Wille called Charlie Pride back in the day?

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

Yes, there was. First as slaves, who were beaten, whipped, tortured and killed for stepping out of line, then during the period from the Civil War through the end of the civil rights era in the 1960s. That was centuries.

You do know that nooses were used to hand white folks, too. Right? Lynchings were exclusively used on black folks.

True. Whites who fought for civil rights were also lynched, as I said. Immediately post Civil War lots of whites were murdered, and those murders worked. Republicans figured out they could vote or get killed, so they didn't vote. Terrorism on a grand scale!

MLK would be so disappointed in you, because you aren't judging this man by the content of his character.

Sure I am - he's a guy celebrating lynchings as "Mississippi Justice." And he didn't just do it on any day - he did it election day. He woke up, knew he was going to the polls, and decided THAT is the message he wanted to send on that day. Again, election day was important to the white supremacists. After the early days of the KKK when they murdered, slaughtered Republicans voting and running for office, the South including Mississippi spent the next century denying the vote to blacks, and in part using a campaign of domestic terror to establish white supremacy, then perpetuate it until LBJ sent troops down there to enforce the VRA and CRA.

Did you notice a racist ex nurse being fired? It's the thread topic.

I had to look it up but I knew they were good friends and Willie invited Charlie Pride to tour with him, so your BUTWHATABOUTWILLIE??!! is BS.

He just doesn't have much ammo to actually argue the topic, so picking on Willie Nelson who was/is a huge fan and ally and friend of Charlie Pride is all he's got. Poor conservatives.... FWIW, Charlie Pride has none of it when it comes to criticizing Willie on that issue.

E.g. https://pagesix.com/2016/07/06/charley-pride-people-dont-understand-willie-nelson-slur/

I was just wondering if you knew Willie called him "super n****r".

That's all.

If Willie had a real job, you think that would fly? I bet Willie's career would be ruined. Glad you like him, though.

He's still a nurse. He's probably got a new job, already. So, most likely, he isn't an un-employed nurse, either.

Who would hire a racist nurse?

At the time, nothing would have happened to him, in the South at least. He called him supernigger to take the power away from the slurs others hurled at Charlie Pride.

FWIW, just yesterday bought tickets to see him in concert here in Knoxville. Awesome little venue, so it will be a great show. Haven't seen him in 15 years or more, and it's great I'll get a chance to do so again before he dies. If I had to listen to just one person for the next month, it would probably be his stuff. Great songwriter, great musician, all around good guy. The way he treated Charlie Pride is evidence of what kind of person he is and was.

As any good lawyer will tell you, you get your hands on the personnel manual that describes acceptable employee conduct on and off the job. Then you sue them for not following thrir own rules. I’ll be if he wore a black lives matter shirt, no one woukd have said a word.

I only pass through Knoxville; never get to do anything. I stop out at Watt Rd. a lot.

Re: A Mississippi Man Lost His Nursing Job After He Wore A Violently Racist Shirt To Vote In The Mid

The Civil Rights Act was passed by Republicans, LBJ only signed it.

Damn, did You ever miss the mark. Yes, Republicans back THEN voted for it, and so did a lot of Democrats back then (153 Democrats and 136 Republicans) and It was a truly bipartisan bill. But the 91 Democrats in the South who voted against it are the ones who became Republicans afterwards, and THAT is when the Republican party started losing it's mantle of the party of Lincoln. Within 20 years, the roles were effectively reversed. The GOP became the party that the KKK'ers and Neonazis supported. And that is how it stands today. The Charlottesville Nazis who started the riot there supported Republicans, not Democrats.

I jammed with Charlie Pride's steel player once. He played Purple Haze on the steel guitar, and it totally kicked ass.

News flash - Racist assholes aren't the only ones who have free speech. So do people who own businesses. Racist assholes have every right to portray nooses on t-shirts because "first Amendment". Businesses have every right not to employ racist assholes because "first amendment". Don't forget that, along with Constitutional rights, there are responsibilities. Are others to blame for the firing of the racist asshole? No, not at all. The racist asshole is responsible for his own actions. Free speech is protected, and so is the right of businesses to fire racist assholes if those racist asshole don't represent the business, and hurts their reputation. Period. Whining about racist assholes being fired is never going to change that dynamic.

Well, in Tennessee if they're smart they don't need that because we are an "at will" state, which means he can be fired for any reason or no reason.

And BLM =/= lynching, but nice attempt at a butwhataboutism!
