Singer Taylor Swift got political on Sunday, declaring her support for Tennessee’s Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Phil Bredesen.

“In the past, I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world, I feel differently about that now,” Swift, who was criticized by some for remaining relatively silent during the 2016 election, wrote in an Instagram post.

Poor Taylor. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. Get ready for her to be a punchline now for trump and every right-wing nut with access to the internet.

The good news is she'll probably be able to write quite a few tracks about the way she's going to get **** on!

Artists attaching their brands to political causes and brands is getting annoying with as bad as our art is now. It would be better if they concentrated on their day jobs, tried to get that right.

I can't fault her. If she feels strongly about something she's got just as much right to speak her mind as you and I do. Because she's a public figure, the consequences for her will be much more severe. Especially from schoolyard bully assholes like trump, tucker, and coulter.

She is a pillar of Celeb Culture, often turning in poor quality work as they use their power to spread division and bad ideas through the society, all too often.

That is not OK.

Who cares what Taylor Swift thinks or any other celebrity?

She can't stand Marsha Blackburn running for Tom Cotton's Senate seat. And her recent polling shows she's got a good chance of winning. And after the well calculated smear campaign on Brett Kavanaugh by Democrats, I think she has even better chances of winning.

I don't think so because if they did Hillary Clinton would have won. Remember her super star line up of famous recording artists and actors? Heck tinsel town was one of her biggest donors.
 
She's entitled to her opinion, just like everyone else. If you look to pop stars for political cues, you are a lost cause already.

From what I read, she has kept her politics close to vest for many years. Wonder if the Kavanaugh ruling was the catalyst? She won a sexual assault case against a radio DJ about a year ago.

So? That's her right to do that. You don't really know why she is voting for who she is, anymore than I do. That's why I said, "I wonder." After reading her Instagram post, it's pretty obvious that she is sickened by the turn this country has taken. I can't say as I blame her.

I dont know where you went wrong but let me say the following, maybe it will work: Conformity is demanded on the Left, because we are in a mad dash to make it to UTOPIA before Western Civilization crashes down around us with an awesome assist by the entire elite class with particular attention to the educators, the journalists, and the politicians nearly completely failing in their duties over long periods of time. All those who dont conform feel the sting of shame and if that does not work shunning. The worst is handed out to the so called opinion molders like Swift who have the power to hook their brands to the cause and help drive it, enormous pressure is placed upon them to "do the right thing". Many millions of people are looking very closely to make sure that Taylor Swift uses her brand "well" and that she sells the "right" ideas.

She put that out for PR reasons; probably because she getting frustrated letters from her hipster fans, because she hasn't taken sides, against President Trump.
Whoever wrote it for her didn't do enough research.

Reminds me of Lana Del Rey, who was enjoying being a rebel, till it was made clear to her that her career/brand would suffer if she did not knock it off.
