Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, considered moving to another country following Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement earlier this year, her husband says.

“She was like, ‘I can’t deal with this. If he becomes the nominee, then I’m moving to another country. I cannot live in this country if he’s in the Supreme Court,’” her husband, Russell Ford, told The Washington Post for a story published Saturday. “She wanted out.”

I'd say this lady's unfortunate experience with Kavanaugh left some very deep scars. He is the one who should be considering moving to another country rather than his victim.

I'd say her husband is trying to give her more support. Hmm, we haven't heard why she was in marriage counseling in the first place as of yet.

Maybe that marriage wasn't working out? Maybe the move was to get away from him? I'm sure we will be given all the gory details presented in the most positive light for them...implying that this alleged traumatic experience she never told ANYONE (that we know of) about was so devastating to her life that it was this that affected their marriage.

Will we ever know the truth? Oh yeah, we would IF the FBI got involved....

Note: Maybe something traumatic did occur, maybe Kavanaugh was involved in some way. However, anecdotally I can personally remember every single significant emotional event (good and bad) in my life often to the smallest detail.

I find it hard to fathom how this incident seems to be so spotty in hers. Just saying. :coffeepap:

Maybe she is the typical Uber leftist whack job that declares they are moving if so-n-so is elected because it will be Armageddon.

There was no shortage of them during Kavanagh's hearings. They came adorned in costumes screaming over the proceedings. Ford went as far as hiring an extremist as her legal represenitive.

This has given no credible reason to rule out that she isn't an extremist whack job who is willing to lie about who felt her up when she was 15 in order to block him from being seated. She may very well be an end justifies the means person.

^^^^ Unintentional irony of the month award winner.

Republicans have been treating Dr. Ford like a hated enemy rather than a person who may be a legitimate rape attempt victim bringing an accusation against an attacker.

This is every bit as bad as Republicans' reaction to the Parkland shooting.

i work for an international company, and i've considered asking for a transfer to Europe to escape the utter stupidity of Trumpism and to get established there before i get old and need health care. i have no desire to be bled of the entirety of my family's hard work just because i get a heart attack or cancer. however, my wife and i can't bring ourselves to leave our families, and since i'm not the one who joined a half wit carnival huckster's cult, why should i have to leave? i guess that i'll vote against and hope that this too shall pass.

Hopefully it will pass if our democracy can survive the rest of Trump's term. He should not bet on being reelected. He will be primaried.

i see a few big risks :

1. his idiocy crashes the economy

2. he either starts a war or stumbles into one

3. both 1 and 2

as for him being primaried, i tend to doubt it. this is a cult, and a primary opponent would have trouble finding traction.

Point of information: According to Ms. Ford's own story (to date) she was neither the victim of Rape, nor even that of Attempted Rape.

https://statelaws.findlaw.com/maryland-law/maryland-rape-and-sexual-assault-laws.html

At best (for her story with her added "I thought he might kill me" descriptor) it might be considered by some as Attempted Sexual Offense in the Second Degree.

However, at worst (based on her story) it appears to be a Fourth Degree Sexual Offense, a misdemeanor in Maryland with a one year statute of limitations.

Even looked at as a Sexual Offense in the Second Degree, there is insufficient evidence for any prosecutor to proceed with a trial, much less for the police to act with an investigation on any attempt to file charges.

This is one of the problems with rush to judgement ideology. You need to examine the applicable State laws to determine what crime the alleged fact pattern describes.

Every uninvited sexual encounter is not "Rape," nor is it "Attempted Rape." Rape is specifically defined under the law, and an attempt is also thereby defined.

It is unfortunate that we have people in this country that finds someone guilty based on one persons statement with no other hard evidence. So much for "innocent till proven guilty".

According to what I've been able to determine Ford technically described a third degree sexual assault.

Saying something does not make it true. That can be applied to both you and her.

Republicans have not treated her poorly. They are offering her the opportunity she asked for. Now she is stalling. She started out saying she wanted to remain anonymous. Then she comes out last minute and says she is ready to be heard. Now she is saying she isn't ready, she needs more time. She has been a couple of suspensions already but it's not an indefinite offer. She can't indefinitely postpone without showing cause.

Where was she during the regularly scheduled hearing. Has ms. Ford just become a legitimate rape victim, which by the way is an overstatement. Harassment 3 at best. 4 most likely. Kids 35 years ago.

How long does one have to make claims? 35 years? 2 days after times up? 10 years from now?

What does this have to do with Parkland? Is Kavanaugh responsible for that too?

Oh? So are we going from "This didn't happen" to "It happened but it's not as severe as being claimed"?

.
How do you figure that? And who are the republicans that are treating her badly? Or are you just making stuff up again.

Really, you remembered and discussed the time you were forcibly held down, and suffocated while someone ripped at your clothing? Please share the details!

Many many victims of such assaults do not tell anyone for years, if ever. But do speculate about the state of her marriage and how silly she is to want the FBI investigation.

Wow, quite the pity party now being made up for a PhD psychologist. Nothing new about fanatical Democrats threatening to leave the country in juvenile tantrum outbursts. They never do it, unfortunately.

Clearly, she should NEVER be giving any psychological counseling advise to anyone.

I responded to your this is a rape statement. I never claimed it was rape. Neither did she or her lawyer. That seems to be your claim.

Where are you in your career/life?

far enough in. decades of experience. i'm an expert in lab science. probably a decade behind where i could be if i had been super ambitious and if the economy hadn't tanked in '08. however, i wouldn't change anything. i'm good; just very frustrated with the direction that the country has been going.

Her "unsworn" statement.

Ah, so the discussion has already moved from whether or not the attack happened to which designation of sexual misconduct it is.

(Sigh)

1. Silly to ask me to give an example when you don't know me from Adam. Hence I specified "anecdotally."

2. Using the hold me down etc. example is pure emotional appeal b/s.

3. The information provided as "corroboration" was from a marriage and family counseling session in 2012. So, yeah, being curious about what led to this session might be a valid line of questioning.

4. It is also silly to ask the FBI to investigate. As I pointed out, her allegation is of a STATE crime, not a Federal crime. FACTUALLY, such investigations are the job of local police, NOT the FBI.

Try again. :coffeepap:

It’s extremely silly, the FBI doesn’t investigate these cases and there’s nothing to investigate. You don’t think the man has anything better to do then track down 35 y/o house parties that don’t have a house address?

Post this POTUS won’t improve this, bolded. The missus and I are mid-sixties; I have ties to Europe and enjoy the times we have travelled, both free-style (rent a car and go) and cruising. We have often commented that if we were 20 or so years younger, we would look into relocation. Germany is a favorite followed by Denmark or anywhere in Scandinavia. IMO, we haven’t seen the worst yet.....
