Lawrence O’Donnell Shreds Donald Trump Over His Most ‘Evil’ Lie About 9/11

I did not stretch the definition at all. I simply provided the full definition in response to your failure to do so. And yes, you made a positive assertion. You clearly stated:

That is a positive assertion. You have not provided any evidence that he had none.

If an atheist says that "God does not exist" then people will rightly call him out to prove his positive assertion. Your statement is no different. In both instances a positive assertion is made.

"There is no god"

"Trump had no friends that died on 9/11"

Kal'Stang ignores the word "didn't" is negative to claim the sentence makes a positive claim. Kind of like if I say there is no spoon, I am actually making a positive claim about the spoon's existence.

Where is that clock emoji again.

you do realize he didn't have 100s of friends die anywhere, right?

Just want to point to to everyone who needs reading glasses, just how dishonest Kal'Stang's argument has been from the get-go. If you literally add negatives in your sentences, Kal'Stang will claim these are positive claims. Kind of like if you say 3 - 2 = 1, what Kal thinks you're really saying is that 1 + 2 = 3.

He's suggesting he lost hundreds of friends in the collapse of the Twin Towers. He was friends with what, 5 out of every 10 people killed, 6/10, 7/10.....

Who buys that? Seriously?

It always has to be about him.

Still, let him take center stage and make it all about him and just be grateful that he didn't tweet something idiotic like;

“Firefighter’s a hero because he got killed? I prefer the ones that escaped.”

And if he did say that, his sycophants would make excuses for his atrocious behavior AGAIN.

Just look at this thread, a DP member is telling people that saying something doesn't exist is a positive claim about the existence of that something.

You can't get more intellectually hackish than that.

I am going to stop you right there because it's obvious that not only do you stretch the definition of a friend to be anyone the planet, you also have absolutely no idea what social media is based on.

When exactly do you think the term Web 2.0 appeared? Why do you think FB started in 2004? It was founded in 2004, it wouldn't become public access until 2006. 5 years after 9/11.

You are being pretty disingenuous in your claim that anyone and everyone is your friend if you've had the slightest of contact with them... But you stepping into social media and telling everyone it existed long before the common denominators for social media were established is pretty funny.

Talk about delusions and wanting to talk about any subject you have zero knowledge of. Kal, whenever you want to show us even 10 reports of Trump attending funerals, we will believe you.

I find it rather ironic that you're nitpicking over the word "didn't" vs "no" while simultaneously wanting to ignore the full definition of "friend".

In either case, whether you used the word "didn't" or "no", you still made a positive assertion. That Trump didn't have any friends that died on 9/11. Just because you used words like "didn't" does not mean that you are not making a positive assertion. You really need to learn the difference.

You don't know how a dictionary works, do you? I'll give you a clue, every single numbered item is a different and separate definition. They don't create one single definition for the word - as a matter of fact, for you to claim it does cements how dishonest you've been.

I picked the most commonly used one, and went with it - you picked all of them at the same time, and inadvertently made everyone on the planet your friend. That's absolutely bonkers.

Lmao.

Lmao, you are doubling down on your pretention that in 2001, Donald Trump had 100s of friends akin to what exists now on social media? You're not only dishonest, you're anachronistic.

Want to highlight Kal's dishonesty again. If I say I didn't go to the store, Kal believes I am making a positive assertion about going to the store.

Absolutely bonkers, buddy.

Kal, please provide the names of "10 friends" whose funerals Trump attended after 9/11? No? Okay, I guess there is absolutely no evidence that even 10 of his friends died, much less 100s.

I have to applaud the most excellent deflection accomplished on this thread. Where else by at DP will you see a discussion on one topic be completely and utterly destroyed with a brazillion pages arguing about the definition of, and societal aspects of, the word "friend". Unbelievable.

You're right. It was pretty silly of Bucky, a conservative, to start a discussion on the definition of the word friends, by arguing that practically anyone he's come across ever, is his friend, and that justifies claiming his make belief friends died somewhere.

Conservatives would argue that killing people is justified if it helped Trump get a win.

I saw for that claim to be true Trump would have to be 'friends' with at least 1 out of 10 people that died in 9/11.

It's a bull**** claim, no more no less.

He's like the person in your group who always, always has to one up every story and it's bigger and better than the last one.

If we are to go by the statements of certain psycho-fans(pun intended) and adopters, everyone he has ever come across is his friend. Everyone. Ever.

Acquaintances, people his shoulder rubbed in a public washroom, relatives who died before he was born, people who were at a McDonalds he visited more than 3 times, people who ate at his restaurant, etc.

That's. Loco. Loco.

 I guess this is where I get the scary realization that I'm probably presented as a 'friend' in real life for that person.

I mean I really like all you guys here and all but I don't really consider any of you my actual 'friends'. For one thing, I don't personally know anyone here which is kind of a big criteria of a real friend in my opinion.

That's kind of the point. If someone had asked me as a teenager are people on FB your friends? I would have probably answered yes.

Getting to my 30s I've realized that not everyone we come across sees us as a friend and it's mental for anyone to do the opposite. Hell, I took out most of my FB "friends" when I realized I was getting requests from people I had zero recollection of ever meeting.

Watching supposedly adult men argue that they call anyone they come across their friend, just so they can say Trump is right is downright hillarious.

The word "friend" is a very subjective term.

You look at how many friends Donald Trump has on Twitter and the Gram, he clearly is popular. He's an influencer. Many people like him for his celebrity. He was the famous guy in Home Alone and the Pizza Hut Commercials.

Although he may never have met those that perished on 9/11, I would guess hundreds that did die viewed Donald Trump as a "friend."

That is very typical hyperbole (lying) from Trump. He is constantly exaggerating the facts to build himself up or tear down an opponent. If you and I did that, we'd soon earn the reputation for being an arrogant douche. Trump is an arrogant douche, a shameless self-promoting narcissist and a liar. Add the words "fat", "orange" and "moronic" to that list of qualities as needed to flesh out his pathological obliviousness to what he is.
