Bob Woodward, an associate editor at The Washington Post, sought an interview with President Trump as he was writing “Fear,” a book about Trump’s presidency. Trump called Woodward in early August, after the manuscript had been completed, to say he wanted to participate.

Over the course of 11-plus minutes, Trump repeatedly claimed his White House staff hadn’t informed him of Woodward’s interview request — despite also admitting Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had told him Woodward wanted to talk. He also started the phone call by saying Woodward had “always been fair” to him, but by the end he said the book would be “inaccurate.”

This is a transcript of that call, with key sections highlighted and annotated. To see an annotation, click on the yellow, highlighted text.

Did Trump freak out? Did he call Woodward "Little Bob" or something of the sort? Did he throw staffers under the bus?

MAYBE!!!!

You'll have to listen to find out.

I just want to know what, OP-er, you want to be the discussion topic of this thread. The phone call can be heard and what one hears the two men say is what it is. What would you have us remark upon with regard to it?

Whomever holds the office of President of The United States after Donald Trump, their biggest job will be restoring the decorum and dignity of the office that George Washington worked so hard to endow it with. Washington knew that everything he did would set a President for future Presidents to follow and all President's, until tRump, have been equally mindful of that tradition. General bone spurs has **** all over that tradition, much to the disgrace of our country and shock of the world.

The real truth is yet to be revealed, Woodward's book is just a glimpse into the disfunction of this misadministration.

The above would be a starting point but I'll entertain all perceptions of what was said. This is one of those "think for yourself" kind of exercises and I'm not going to dictate what I think you should have heard.

He stated he was not aware of the request, and then when prompted recalled it. So was he lying or forgetful. I will go with forgetful
KA was funny, nope not me, I have to leave this recorded conversation quickly.

I thought Kellyanne handled it pretty well. She asked Woodward about who he contacted and how many "no" responses he got. Basically, she said she passed the requests on to whoever makes those decisions and it got shot down. One could certainly imagine that as some kind of confirmation that the staff does keep a lot of stuff away from Trump and would prefer him not to speak off the cuff. I know if I was on his staff that's what I'd be going for.

I wonder when it will come out that Omarosa had Swampy's blessing to record him too. Jeez. For a guy who hates recordings and calls the media fake news a lot, he sure does "trust" a lot of journalists.

Yup. It reminds me very much of how Republicans felt in 2001.

Here's Mattis and Kelly's response to Woodward's book. It would seem Woodward and Berstein are intent on obliterating their reputations.

You have to remember why Trump's in the White House and the GOP has control over both Houses. From 2010-2016 American voters overwhelmingly rejected the policies and agenda of the Obama administration.

Not only did the GOP regain the majority in both Houses, they picked up 14 new Governors and the WH. The Democrats response to this ? Tanrum, and ramp up the identity/class politics, openly embrace socialist initiatives and advocate for open borders and abolishing ICE

As far as Trump disgracing the office of the Presidency ? Where was all the concern for the office when the Obama administration was spying on reporters ? Spying on Congress ? Using the IRS to target and harrass Conservatives ? Or spying on the opposition candidate and campaign prior to a Presidential election ?

The above would be a starting point but I'll entertain all perceptions of what was said. This is one of those "think for yourself" kind of exercises and I'm not going to dictate what I think you should have heard.

Except that you said this:

Did Trump freak out? Did he call Woodward "Little Bob" or something of the sort? Did he throw staffers under the bus?

MAYBE!!!!

You'll have to listen to find out.

So you apparently want to insinuate something without saying it. The only alternative is that the rest of the post was the result of unintentional spasm, and I'm guessing you wouldn't want to plead that.

From 2010-2016 American voters overwhelmingly rejected the policies and agenda of the Obama administration.

That's not true. The Koch Bros. spent heavily, HRC was investigated and lied about like no one else in history and yet today MOST AmeriCANs still favor the ACA by a wide margin; even tRump supporters.

Not only did the GOP regain the majority in both Houses, they picked up 14 new Governors and the WH.

Thanks to the Koch Brothers … oh wait the Kochstone pipeline passed … they were thanked in spades.

As far as Trump disgracing the office of the Presidency ?

Never before have there been reports of screaming in the Oval Office, never before has a President shoved another leader out of the way for a photo op.

You need to take off your orange colored glasses so you can see past your trump stained nose.

The Koch brothers...Lol !!!

Fom 2010-2016 the Democratic party lost nearly 1000 local and State seats accross the Nation, 14 Governors, the House majority and the Senate majority and finally the WH.
It had nothing to do with the "Koch " brothers or " Gerrymandering ( Senate and Gubernatorial races aren't gerrymandered ) and everything to do with the wholesale rejection of Obama's agenda and policies.

Under Obama, the ACA was so unpopular, Democrat challengers pretended it didn't exist and they got their asses handed to them anyway.

And there's no comparison between Trumps conduct and the unprecedented scale of lawlessness and corruption that occurred under the Obama administration.

The Obama FBI knowingly submitted Hillary campaign funded and unsubstantiated oppo-research to the FISC to obtain a warrant to spy on the opposition candidate and campaign prior to and after a Presidential election.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the existence of a ongoing FBI investigation into the Trump campaign's alleged contacts with Russia were leaked just 2 weeks prior to the election

It's corruption that makes Nixon's dirty tricks campaign look like child's play, and this scandal isn't going away. Ok

Come on. Did anybody really expect Kelly, Mattis, et al, to admit what they said about Trump? He "signs their paychecks" every week. They aren't going to admit anything.

Good thing is that they don't have to.

Woodward has hundreds of hours worth of audio.

Nope, no freaking out. He did spend most of the phone call lying that he had never been informed of Woodward's request to interview him directly, only to later admit that Graham had informed him.

Yeah, and what did the Republicans deliver?

A destablized Middle East, and a tanked economy.

Thanksassholes.

Speaking of decorum in cpwill's post, you lack it here.

The Koch brothers...Lol !!!

Fom 2010-2016 the Democratic party lost … It had nothing to do with the "Koch " brothers ]/quote]

It AbsaByGodLutely had everything to do with Koch money, I watched the Kochmachine buy a sEnate seat right here in my home state.

Under Obama, the ACA was so unpopular ...

And yet it is still, by far, the most popular Health Care option … even amongst tRump supporters.

And there's no comparison between Trumps conduct and the unprecedented scale of lawlessness and corruption that occurred under the Obama administration.

:2rofll: BS!

Yaddda yadda not of you nonsense has ever been proven much less prosecuted.

My somewhat educated guess on this is that the staff was protecting Trump from himself. Trump himself would have accepted the interview, and probably gone on to say some embarrassing or incriminating things, so the staff did what was necessary to keep Trump from screwing his own pooch.

That's a logical scenario.

The left is planting the idea that Mattis, Kelly, Haley, and former WH attorney Dowd have lied for the president.
Instead of holding Woodward accountable, they automatically believe his account. The public should demand that he reveal his sourcing or admit that he wrote a piece of fiction.

LOL! Just like the POTUS, Kelly is a known and documented liar.

I can see why you'd desperately need to believe him.

This could be resolved pretty easily by putting them all on the same panel and asking Woodward to defend the quotes he used and let them respond.
Let the viewers decide.
Simple.

Republicans were saying the exact same thing back in the watergate days. No surprise here. They have to attack anyone that criticizes their idol.
